shocking, stick it out.
Started this last night with my Mrs. Eric Bana is great and it was easy to take a dislike to John early on. Looking forward to getting back to episode 4 this evening.

Just watched first episode of Umbrella Academy

I think this might just be something special, really enjoyed it
Finished it now, enjoyed it but didn’t quite live up to my hopes. Good though

Thought I’d try Titans next, see what it’s like

Bloody ace, that’s what it is. Better than UA, I’m 3 episodes in, hope it carries on as good

After Life - Ricky Gervais.

3 episodes in and quite enjoying it. Certainly better than Derek was.
I don't like Ricky Gervais very much, but I warmed to After Life.

A strange mixture of making me very sad about life in general with some very funny moments.

Edit: Apart from I just watched the last one and it ended a bit too 'twee'. Needed some bitter sweetness.

i think the death of Julian was dark enough to allow some light in at the end
I didn’t care much about that character though.

I would have ended it with him asking out the carer and as she said “yes” have his father go into cardiac arrest. Not too sure what that says about me :-)

i watched after life, same old format, fantasized storytelling as always with his harder storylines, too perfect , never really know characters which go from introduction to friend unreally fast,, just feels like all his other work, pretty forgettable really.

We liked it. It's fiction. Don't expect a documentary. Quite touching in places (especially when you've recently lost someone to cancer).

Cracking television. I kind of gave up on F1 towards the end of the Damon Hill/Michael Schumacher days where it was a case of he who got pole won the race. That's possibly still the case but this focuses on the pack behind and god it's exciting back there. Brilliant cinematography, great narration, loads of drama and some very big accidents. Recommended even if you're not into the sport.

its obvious it is what is, and RG is good actor in it, but writing and directorship knock it down for me

5/10.

Am enjoying.

Easy to dislike Gervais, and I do. However, he always manages to impress me with his writing and choice of subject matter.

Anyone who has suffered a loss will find some reflective catharsis here. It’s not perfect for sure, but thought provoking and refreshing in the main.

After Life. Sentimental claptrap. Laughed and sobbed like a baby in equal measures. Utterly brilliant telly.

One great film and one surprising one this weekend.

Wind River - think most on PH have watched and enjoyed this one. I thought it was excellent and a tough watch.

8/10

Dumplin' - Wife's choice and reading the synopsis I was ready to go and sit on the bog for two hours but this turned into a surprisingly sweet and funny film about a "fat" daughter of a former beauty pageant queen (solid turn by Jennifer Aniston) who decides to try and sabotage the process.

IMDB rates it at 6.8 and I think that is fair - anything creeping up to 7 I give a shot and this was a winner.
