Netflix - What gems have you found?
Discussion
I've been watching, "I am a killer" which takes someone on death row and gets them to tell their story, interviews the victims family/friends, then goes back to inmate and gets them to listen/comment on what they've found. Some episodes are extremely interesting, some so so. Well worth a watch though, particularly for the chap sentenced to death even though he didn't kill anyone.
Mindhunter is next on the list after I've finished this.

Just finished the second season of Mindhunter. Really good.
I've always been fascinated by Serial Killers and this show is a quilty pleasure, Ive read mindhunter as well. Suprised there were only 9 episodes.Charlie Wilson's war.
This came out in the year I was building my house, so I missed it. (2007)
Now on Netflix, so I turned it on with no expectations. (Though I'll watch all Hanks' flicks just because of his acting abilities). About 1/3 the way through I thought: 'This has to be Aaron Sorkin'. A quick imdb and sure enough.
Well worth a watch for the sparkling Sorkin dialogue and both Hanks' & Hoffman's performances.
(Lots of hints of West Wing).
7 and a bit /10

Watched Calum von Moger: Unbroken
Bodybuilder and two-time Mr. Universe, Calum von Moger, reflects on his rise to fame and battle to come back from a debilitating injury.

It was an interesting watch about what he went through.

Started watching Hyperdrive tonight, just released I think as it was in an email from them today about what’s new.
“Elite street racers from around the world test their limits in supercharged custom cars on the biggest, baddest automotive obstacle course ever built.”
https://www.netflix.com/at-en/title/80189648
Pretty good so far, some nice cars and good drivers, just on episode two so will see how it goes.

It does as background telly, but I cannot stand the shouting presenters, sob stories and the fact its all drifting this or doughnuts that. “Elite street racers from around the world test their limits in supercharged custom cars on the biggest, baddest automotive obstacle course ever built.”

To look at though, the setting and lighting is fantastic.

Couple of comments:
Superb performances all round.
We might need to persevere with it. Finished season 1 but didn't plan on season 2. Found it stunning to look at, but hard to follow and the dubbing really takes away from the dramaHonestly, do people not realise you can just change the dubbing to subtitles on Netflix???Cant stand subtitles, turned them off and just listen to the dialog, its in English, not bothered about not matching the lips move, really good film I think,I'm a subtitle snob and point-blank refuse to watch anything dubbed. Period.
Watched Ep 1 / S2 of Dark, and am captivated again. Took me a while in Ep1 to remember all the characters, their interwoven connections, and how S1 finished, but by the end of the episode the series is shaping up to be better than S1 (if just as dense).
I absolutely agree that 'Dark' is right up there with being of the best series of Netflix. Not something that I could easily recommend, say 'Stranger Things', because it is more complex, claustrophobic and dense - focusing on 4 interconnected families over 3 different time periods. But it is richly rewarding, if you are prepared to invest some time.

If it's bleak you're after, there ain't much bleaker than 'Red Riding: The Year of Our Lord 1974' the first of the Red Riding trilogy, which is still one of my all time favourites (not on netflix though).

I loved 'Red Riding' when I watched it many years ago. Absolutely agree that for most of it, it is bleak and hard to watch in places, but has a ray of light on the other side. A fictional trilogy based upon on a series of child murders in the 70s, that uncovers child abuse and police corruption over a decade or so. It does allude to real-life crimes during this period. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_dyUsvkfXc4

OMG, its the best thing on Netflix in my opininion. I've watched some good series on Netflix, breaking bad, better call Saul, narcos, stranger things and many others but I think Dark tops them all.
Yes, the dubbing is annoying as it's originally in German, and it's really hard to follow, it was really hard to work out who was who in the different time frames, but WOW, it's well worth persevering with. 10/10

You will need to find your happy place afterwards though.
