Netflix - What gems have you found?

I’ve watched the first 3 episodes of series 1 of MindHunter. Can somebody please tell me it gets better because so far it’s TV to fall asleep to.

Nothing has happened and it’s dull as dishwater.

I so wanted this to be good after reading the reviews on here and elsewhere.

I thought it was brilliant. But you probably need an interest in criminal psychology to like it, so it probably isn't to everyones taste.

From what I remember the pace was slow throughout. It ain't an action series.

They do burn some time linking in to where series 1 left off.

You aren't the only one , even though I sort of enjoy it I tend to doze off in it most times.

For me it only started getting good towards the end of season 1, the second is much better paced.

Very much so.

The start is slow as it's a new team, new approach - so understandably a slow burner.

I think this is very much intentional as the music and also the colour seemed to get alot more vibrant towards the end of S1.

So, Maniac came out last year and passed me by. Great cast - Emma Stone, Jonah Hill, Gabriel Byrne.

Man, it gets weird quickly after Ep3. I started watching it and was kinda intrigued by it, and Jonah absolutely nails his performance...but then it got strange, and I really had no idea what I was watching. Kinda reminded me of Legion.

But at the end....I gotta say overall I enjoyed it. It's really well shot, very well acted across the board and production levels are high. Well worth checking out, but it's very "marmite" judging by the feedback I've read elsewhere!

Really enjoyed S1 of Mindhunter so was looking forward to S2. Watched all of S2 over the holiday weekend, very disappointed.

What was all that twaddle about with Dr Wendy? Irrelevant tosh. Same with the Tench son storyline, brought nothing to the overall season, bored the arse off me.

I'm completely disinterested in the back story of the main characters, just tell us about the serial killers!!!!

Why does everything have to turn in to a fking soap opera? Jesus. See also things like Homeland, House.

I think you've missed the point of the work they were doing if you don't see the prevalence of the story about the guys son.

Reached bit of stalemate with Netflix so need some recommendations, Police / FBI / CIA / terrorist type of stuff

Finished last night Mindhunter, which followed on from the entire Homeland series, which followed Luther and Line of Duty. Enjoyed them all.

Prefer to binge watch so like a few series to get into. Browsing last night and only saw House of cards which looked ok (but looked a bit too political ?), any good ?

Im a bit weird and wont watch anything that is currently the "in" thing to watch, Stranger Things etc.

Any recommendations ?

All very good imo, some pretty weird bits in some of them though, especially abducted in plain sight...

I’ve just finished Shooter.
S1 and 2 are very good 3 a bit slower but still good.

Really enjoyed it.

Would also add Manhunt : Unabomber to that list

Murder Mountain is quite interesting

The Sinner is good but definitely fiction rather than docudrama like the others

I'm enjoying Forensic Files, 20 minute episodes on 1980's/1990's murder cases and how the forensics helped solved them.

Old fashioned footage, but 9 series x 40 episodes to pass the time.
