Started on Living With Yourself last night and ended up watching 3 episodes in a row - very good indeed.

The Siege of Jacobville , fresh company of Irish UN peacekeepers sent into early 60's Congo then hung out to dry by by politicians . 7/10
Yes it is fairly decent. I thought perhaps they had exaggerated the fighting but looking on Wikipedia it seems fairly accurate (if you can trust Wikipedia of course)
Is that a sequel to the Siege of Jadotville?
Those army guys just couldn't catch a break.
What I found interesting about the SOJ is that it is the mirror image of one of my all time favourite films The Wild Geese, where the Katanga mercs were the goodies and the government troops were the baddies. That and some good retro kit - the Magister Fouga and the FN FAL for example.

That said, as much as I 'like' HBC, Vanessa Kirby will always Princess Margret to me. I am still conflicted about fancying 'Princess Margret' biggrin

The Crown. I haven't watched any of it. I have been avoiding it as I fear it may be a grovelling, sickening fawn-fest. Am I right or a meringue? I am a dyed in the wool republican - should I get over myself and watch it? Is it what I fear it to be?

Finished the new season of The Crown, loved it. Charles has MASSIVE ears, Anne is very shagable in a guilty horsey secret kind of way, Margaret likes a drink, fk me does she like a drink biggrin Really enjoyed it, I guess the next series will be a Dianafest.

It's not what you fear. Sympathetic towards the individuals up to a point, but certainly not grovelling towards the institution.

Proper grown up TV without any "goodies" or "baddies" and also doesn't solely focus on the royal family as season 1 is as much about Churchill as it is the queen.

I reckon anyone watching The Crown will come away with their viewpoint confirmed, whether republican or monarchist. Its shows both the absurdity of the whole set up and the strength of character it takes to survive within it. It is a drama so not completely accurate but appears to give a realistic view of the Royal family, the institution and the period without being a puff piece or hatchet job.

Also just finished series 3 of The Crown. It was excellent, I thought.

Does get quite personal in the later episodes.

I felt a big portion of it was directed to why Charles will not be a very good King. Or maybe I was reading into that too much.

Olivia Coleman & Helena Bonham-Carter are both excellent and the guys that play Philip and Charles have the accent and mannerisms spot on.

I'm looking forward to see what Netflix does about Prince Andrew in the later series.

Destroyer.

Really enjoyed this. Kidman was almost unrecognisable.

Long, involving, great story , brilliant acting. 2 superb films in a week from Netflix. (The King being the other)

Loved the previous series, only just picked up there is another so some good watching ahead.

In a similar but different vein, try Samurai Gourmet or Kantaro the Sweet Tooth Salaryman.

Watched 2 episodes of "Who Killed Little Gregory" last night. Fascinating story about the murder of a 4 year old child in France. It's subtitled but brilliant so far.

I doubt the royals would be all that happy with how they’re portrayed in the crown tbh.

It might not be anti enough for you but it’s certainly not a fawn fest.

I think it’s one of the best series on Netflix myself.

Agree with this. During series 1, I did perhaps think that Netflix were sympathetic to the Royals and portraying them in a good light. However, it is evident this is not the case. They are genuinely attempting to portray them factually as much as possible. Admittedly, it is a drama and some of the content is fictional, but Netflix is trying to portray them as factually as possible.

Hence my earlier comments on how they will portray Andrew in later series!
