Watched them all now, it's very good.

It's also fun playing the spot the location game for me, as a Manc who hasn't lived there for 15 years. They picked the posh bits a fair amount. biggrin
What's the school? William Hulme?
Stockport, particularly the Market Place and Underbank has been used for loads of filming recently, everything from Ladbrooks ads to Peaky Blinders

Messiah is pretty good - nearly at the end and hoping for Series 2.

Watched Uncut Gems a couple of nights ago - what a stressful film! I suspect that Sandler isn't putting on too much of an act for that role - he comes across as a very hyper person. It was the sort of film where after about an hour you're not sure if you're enjoying it but you don't want to stop watching as you want to know what happens in the end...which is quite a shock. Turns out that Mrs BPD and I both enjoyed it - even if the soundtrack did start to grate a little...

Much as I thought it was an annoying film, I have to say that hearing the Billy Joel track "The Stranger" as part of the soundtrack was a small pleasure amongst the noise of the film.

Except for the constant "grim forboding" music.

Thank me later.

I think the Messiah is utter ste, but your review on Uncut Gems is spot on. In fact, you couldn't have any more of a miss match in the two titles here, Messiah turgidly slow I couldn't bare the boredom, Uncut Gems I had a sore head with the pace of it. I have no idea if I enjoyed it or hated it, one thing for sure is that I've never seen a film quite like it. Loved the ending tbf.

Another strong endorsement here. Norsemen is right up there with the best modern sitcoms IMO.
Just been watching Norsemen off the back of these recommendations, absolutely loving it!

I'm sure it's been mentioned on here before but, Ozark is really good and season 3 starts up again in March so plenty of time for a binge watch and straight into the new season!

Definitely a hidden gem, I always thought it was a serious vikings rip off as id never tried it or watched any clips, it was a Norwegian colleague that recommended it to me.

Looking forward to the next season!

I think the schools Bolton School. The wife’s comment was that it is unrealistic as they can park no bother outside the church in Bury!

I've found they are doing the dodging UK tax waltz like most of the big firms.
Zillions in UK revenue and bugger all UK profit to tax.

In fact we give them money to operate here ????

Uncut Gems, watched it on Saturday thought it was good, I do like Sandler though and I thought the story line of this hapless jeweller/con man trying to keep all the plates spinning whilst the vultures circled quite compelling to watch, I wanted it to really workout for him as his plans got more and more desperate and it did, but the ending wasn't what I was expecting.

I thought it was pretty good too (for a Sunday night).

Just the pace of his life started giving me heartburn!.. bit of an odd ball film, not what I was expecting and a bit hard to get an actual fix on who was really nasty, who was a criminal and who was just a hustler.
Did anyone else think Sandler was very Al Pacino like?

It covers some of them, pretty sure there is a scene inside the covered market in Ashton Under Lyne, looked like a tarted up version of what it used to look like anyway. biggrin

There are quite a few scenes in central Manchester, the arches where two characters meet is in the square of the town hall, you can see that in the background on some shots. Quite a few different backstreets near Manchester cathedral are used too.

I like a lot of his films, they just make me laugh, stupid as they are. Happy Gilmore is very funny.
