Michael Portillo Railway Journeys - his jackets?

Top show from a top bloke! Apart from the dancing....
I've been to many of the places featured - brought back some great memories, but didn't come even close to portraying the utter chaos & sensory overload that you are confronted with, especially in cities such as Amritsar.
Interesting factoids on the Raj government in Shimla: I wasn't aware that they basically ruled what is now Pakistan, India, Bangladesh, Burma, Singapore & the UAE, all from one little mountaintop village, with no rail or road links!!!!!

No, likewise. I knew they ruled 'India' from Shimla but not further afield too. I'd never considered the logistical problems.I've been to many of the places featured - brought back some great memories, but didn't come even close to portraying the utter chaos & sensory overload that you are confronted with, especially in cities such as Amritsar.

We get some oldish Great British Railway journeys here in Australia and tonight was the second time there has been someone say to him "it's all those cheques you've been writing...". Tonights was after he makes light of having one shoulder lower than the other (which all people pretty much have) while getting measured up at a tailor (Carl Stuart Menswear) in Huddersfield.
