I'm still waiting for the twist at the end!

Not sure if i liked last nights one too much... it was still clever though..
I thought it was... meh!

All too predictable and all too much like a teen film.
I was thinking... so when are they all going to die ? I thought something interesting might have happened with those pills they did / didnt take

It felt a bit like a Stuart Lee gig to me. I was left wondering if it was soooo subtle that I missed the joke.

Mind you, Tamzin Outhwaite and Sarah Hadland. Can't go wrong biggrin

Someone far cleverer than me is going to have to explain the very last clue, about the Prof's middle name being Hector and the circled letters on the crossword...

Edit: Reading the Guardian article on tonights episode (the grid is also todays cryptic crossword) gives the answer to the above question.

Edited by Miocene on Tuesday 28th February 23:48
Can anyone explain, circled letters were R I P N H S. Apart from the obvious, what did i miss?
N H S was the dead blokes initials...
So was it a statement as well? Dare I say a political one? Or just coincidence? Rest in peace National health service.
In a Guardian article they said it was just coincidence when they created the crossword and not any political statement.

That was a good one, seemingly innocent at the start and then goes down the dark road.

The final zomm on the photograph went straight over my head. Anyone care to explain in a spoiler wrapper?

Likewise.. not sure I saw it quite right but if I did: It looked like him placing the shoe there himself while out on his morning run, so he was pretty mentally ill all the way through and it was just a long drawn out process before he snapped and killed the chap that took the shoe. I got the feeling he just needed the singular shoe in his life to remind him of the child (twin) they lost

ALthough I could well be wrong, and someone will explain it far better than I!

That was the CCTV in the end credits, the last shot zooming in on the photos moves down to his shoes.

He was mentally ill, he said he went to Norfolk to Ted but couldn't remember what he did, so did he kill Ted, or did he kill his daughter so that she was 'together again' with her twin?

I realise he's wearing the shoes, some time ago as he has both twins on his knees. So assuming Reece Shearsmith placed the shoe in the street, how did Ted come to possess the matching other, hear about the reward, make his way from some distance away, then get traced home and murdered (?), or was the daughter killed? if you could expand WW I would be grateful.

I thought it was going to be the daughter .... but I guess we will never know.

The bit with Ted was all set up by his wife, just to get the shoe out of the house... but he twigged that when he spotted Ted in one of his wife's college photos

not sure if I rated this one...

the wife contacted her old friend to pretend the shoe was his so to stop her husbands obsession with it...

His wife bought a pair of the same shoes and set it up with Ted who was a friend of hers in the old photos to bring the matching shoe back to get him off being fixated with the missing one, later he found the shoe shop receipt for the size 9 slip ons and confronted her.

You 3 make perfect sense, so back to the original question, why the zoom on the shoes in the photo?

Because even when we found out the story about Ted, it still wasn't necessarily clear where the show had come from originally.

It was to show his mental instability. He had a pair of shoes and in the past had a pair of twins. Obsessing over missing shoe was like obsessing missing twin - should have been pairs

Liked the idea of inside no.9 happened to be a pair of shoes rather than shenanigans of what happens behind closed doors
