Some of the locations in Belfast aren't very well disguised if you know the area but it's got a lot better in Series 5 than previous series.
I remember the end of Series 3 or maybe series 4. Kate is chasing the corrupt officer that killed the Keeley Hawes through the city.
The streets used are about 5 miles away from each other so adding up the distances she chased him about 12 miles on foot.
It all ends when she shoots at a getaway Range Rover from Tates Avenue Bridge ( Moss Heath I think they call it).
That's the same bridge with the BT phonebox in Series 5 which is near Windsor Park Stadium . You can clearly see a Twelfth of July bonfire they didn't make any attempt to erase it.
Any LOD nerds probably know this but here's some key locations
AC-12 HQ is Invest NI in Bedford St

Police HQ is Belfast Central Library in Royal Avenue
Most inside shots of HQ are Riverside Tower beside the Hilton at Lanyon place, the red brick building you can see out the windows from Hastings office with the line of windows running down it is the Hilton. The room numbers on the grey plaques at some of the office/interview rooms are "R06/xx" so i presume it's filmed on the 6th floor. I think i used to sit where Teds office is now.I remember the end of Series 3 or maybe series 4. Kate is chasing the corrupt officer that killed the Keeley Hawes through the city.

In some episodes the HQ is filmed in a different building - you'll notice heaters under the windows and a different view out the windows, I think that's the offices above Granny Annies?
The Hospital scene was filmed at Whiteabbey hospital.
The Pallisades is Victoria Square shopping centre and there's no way you couldn't have spotted the firearms team on the upper floor where TGI fridays/ Cosmo/ Frankie and Benny's is.
One scene of them driving up the road just after that looks as if it was filmed with them driving the wrong way up the street just beside victoria square.
The subway they meet up in when kate is undercover is at the bottom Ann street and always stinks of pee.
In one episode they call Tates avenue by it's proper name.
I am watching the first and second series on Iplayer and it's noticeable the difference in the casting between the first one in 2012 and now.
In the first series basically everyone was white and male whilst in the latest series there are many more women cast in senior positions and many more people from Ethnic minorities. Dont know if it is the writer or the production but someone has had a word.

So it's a bit more realistic then? Or less? In all seriousness I think they've overcompensated on the ethnic minority quota on the show, there just simply aren't that many in the Police.
Senior rank women I think is spot on though.
Now it seems the crew are insufficiently diverse.

HTR batman!
I've discovered this brilliant series during lockdown and binged all the episodes on Netflix and iPlayer. I also discovered this thread and had to carefully drip feed it to myself page by page as I watched each episode. You guys don't make it easy!
I'm not car nerdy enough to let things like the number plates and gun usage bother me. However I *am* nerdy enough to read the scripts and it's interesting to notice points where the final televised episode differs from a script. For example the scuffle between Kate and Lyndsey Denton in series two is written as a slap in the face but in the episode she full on punches her in the stomach to steal her phone. Scripts are on BBC Writers Room here: https://www.bbc.co.uk/writersroom/scripts/tv-drama...
Another "obvious now you think about it" point is how they have re-shot Dot Cotton's death scene from the end of series 3 a couple of times as they developed the storyline in series 4 and 5 - something mentioned in this really good podcast with Jed Mercurio https://play.acast.com/s/astabinthedark/jedmercuri...
Sounds like they didn't get far with filming series 6 before lockdown so we're probably a year away from seeing it which is a shame but hopefully it will tie up even more of the loose ends.
