Plus why haven't they compared the handwriting on the other evidence bags and KRG-30 12?
I wondered this as well as there would be plenty of other numbers to compare it against plus they have her handwriting on the forms she has already filled in. You would think the difference in numbers would stand out a mile away.croyde said:
Hastings has always used terms like darling and luv when addressing female staff.
I've always winced when he does it as it's so out of place in the modern workplace although I know many of my older workmates still use those terms.
Never thought it would be used against him.
Really clever stuff. Loved that last interview session.
He also called Jamie 'son' when he was turning off the tape after the interview. He seems to do it to younger staff or subordinates in general not just to female staff.I've always winced when he does it as it's so out of place in the modern workplace although I know many of my older workmates still use those terms.

I thought this series was going to be crap based on the first episode. Glad to say I was totally wrong.
One thing that's bugging me though, is the wet blanket police chief. Even with a lot of arse kissing, surely you don't get to that position without knowing a thing or two, yet he appears to be a complete simpleton.

Quite pleased really, he's an annoying git.I've always winced when he does it as it's so out of place in the modern workplace although I know many of my older workmates still use those terms.

I really enjoy Line of Duty, but (as before) I find AC-12's staff so unlikable that I'm always rooting for the 'bent' copper!

No, he's no Chief Wiggum - Something significant is definitely going on there! One thing that's bugging me though, is the wet blanket police chief. Even with a lot of arse kissing, surely you don't get to that position without knowing a thing or two, yet he appears to be a complete simpleton.
M.
I'm guessing that Hilton is a mason as well as Hastings. Could be that Maneet was passing info to him from Hastings as he'll want to protect a fellow Mason. Hilton will want to ensure he comes out of any fallout from all of this with minimal damage, and he's been spurned by Huntley, so could be looking to ensure she takes the fall for everything.
I've been reading some of the reviews and comments and one theory is that Huntley may have HIV? Maybe a reason why there's a mutant on her arm and why she's knocking back pills like a kid in a sweet shop. Apparently Ifield may have been positive and blood may have exchanged when Huntley killed him(I'm guessing she killed him).
Series 5 is in the making too, won't be surprised if this story continues over. Steve is in bad shape and surely even by his standards won't recover in time.

I doubt it's significant, but in the big interview they seemed to drop the formal 'I am showing item X1 a picture of my cat, drawn in crayon' as it went on, which may invalidate it later?
I'm all for a police procedural, but it's getting a bit turgid if they keep identifying each and every item (even if it reflects real life). Like filling in ISO9001 paperwork.
When will Dot Cotton's crime boss come back in?

There's a theory on Reddit that the number for Lakewell is very similar to the private number that ACC Hilton gave Huntley, and they are similar.
Lakewell 07700 900784
Hilton 07706 900784
Significant or a mistake or a red herring?
However away from that it seems to me that Lakewell is a copper, or else it's sloppy production values.
In episode 2 they are looking at Huntley's phone records, and there are a stack of calls from /to numbers that go 07700 900*** a and some quite closeto the above. Now it's very often that s of corporate mobile phones have sequential or very similar numbers, I know ours used to be like that, so is Lakewell and hence, possibly, Balaclava man a copper?

In the US they use the dialling code 555 xxx for TV and film numbers as that is not used and so no idiots try calling the numbers. I thought UK TV would have a similar set of 'reserved' numbers to avoid real users being inundated by idiot telephoners. That's why I assumed the legible numbers were all close together. OTOH you could be right.

Well spotted, but if it was a batch of company phones the last numbers would be similar or consecutive. It would not explain why the first part is the same apart from one number. Very odd that the two numbers are so close though.Lakewell 07700 900784

Still think the issue that Lakewell's number and the ACC'S private number just one digit apart is significant, otherewise why such lingering shots on Nick Huntley's phone and the napkin when he writes his number down. If OFCOM supply numbers that can be used for films etc, then why write down 07706 etc? Either that or really sloppy production, it was meant to be the same but they screwed up.
We know both Huntley and hubby are as shady as f-, even if for different reasons, possibly unconnected and not a working conspiracy. Maybe been too quick to discount ACC Hilton as just a useless senior management team keyboard rattling onanist.
