Indeed. The guy who owed about £2k for not paying for a hire car had 2 cars on finance sitting on the drive. If he could afford the monthly paymrnts on those, maybe he could have just paid the outstanding debt instead. Those "add-on" fees for admin costs are horrendous and IMO unjustifiable. I reckon the original debt was about £1k.
You say "the add-on fees are horrendous".

What system would you suggest for collecting this money?
Agreed. Their time is not free, nor is their van, equipment, support staff etc. The way to avoid it is to pay your debts, especially when the courts have told you to.

As before, the fees are set amounts.

I wonder how much these HCEO's earn, and what commision they get for recovering the debt, and, how that might be effected by setting up a payment plan?

Either way the cost of the enforcement should be paid by the person refusing to pay their debt.

Caught a small part of a re run (I think) of this over the BH weekend.

Looked to be a performance car garage in Manchester with a 12k claim in response to a "wrongly described GTR". Looked like a proper shifty garage, anyone know the episode? Only caught 15 mins or so, anyone know what episode it was / any more back ground to it. Be surprised it wasn't covered on here smile

You can’t really reply to this post, without posting something that may be deemed racist.

I think the Nissan was sold as a Stage 4 Litchfield upgrade pack, when it was only a Stage 2, and the £13k is the difference in price including legal costs etc.

I'd be pretty confident that selling dodgy cars is not their main income source...

Thanks all, do we know what episode/series it is. Trying to find it on planner as it was all kicking off when we left the house and wanted to see what happened at the end.

Edit: Found it, season 5.

Re last nights episode, the bloke that owed nearly 6K with the 'shared' Mini on the drive, did anyone notice the other car behind the Mini? Looked a bit like a MK1 Golf.
£500 paid and £50 a month in repayments, Wonder what the office said to that when he rang them when they opened in the morning? hehe

The Italian guy, if he'd offered the sons £400 and also say a £100 a month they would have most likely accepted. Probably wasn't much worth removing.

I've been catching up with a few episodes my Freesat box has picked up, the "performance car company" mini riot was crazy, probably the biggest police turnout in all the episodes?

The court case looks interesting, I have skim-read it but I think it deserves a more detailed read later, lots of detail in there. I do recall a previous one involving a business was dismissed. The thrust of that case was that they broadcast financial discussions that the debtor believed were private (the main crew were kept outside). The judge agreed that it was a private discussion, but it was in the public interest for it to be broadcast.

I have noted that more faces are blurred in recent episodes - I assume this is a result of the most recent case?
