With the amount of survival type TV programmes I thought theyd have half a clue or would at least have done some research?

Could they not have dug up stream (looked like it was a gully) of the rancid water until they found the water table? If there is water there, itll be somewhere else. No need to boil it then.
water table on a dessert island 8 miles long? that was a ditch of rainwater imo

I always wonder how people get selected for a show like this... Where do you see applications to get on it?
Starnow might be worth a try.

I see that the background to 4 of the people has come out as they are paid staff by the production company (the ones that are cameramen).

also, the pic on page 1 shows 14 people but there are 13 on the island...

They said they had received training and were the camera men for the duration. Perhaps it was an insurance thing or some such?

Ahem, look again... smile

to clarify, so I look a little less stupid.

It's billed as 13 people who have to survive and have had minimal training. However, four of them have previously been on similar expeditions.

There is definitely the whiff of the major edit about this for the dramatics.

There some interesting changes in beard length and the dirtiness of clothes.

Feel for the poor croc. That's life tho, a lot of us eat meat that has to die. They are enjoying it too!

Handy how the net was full of dead fish in the morning, and crucial items have been 'washed' up on the beach!

I am expecting a container load of mars bars to get washed up next rolleyes

That limp-wristed fop Ryan needs to get his st together. I can't wait to see him mincing about next week, complaining about animals being killed and getting told what for by the right-minded blokes on the island.

They showed respect for it despite how hungry they were. How may of us think about it like that when we buy burgers from the supermarket?

Still need to catch up on tonights episode but for starting the fire, i'm guessing using the terminals on the camera battery is out of the question?

Enjoying it, but some doubts about how authentic it really is. Where did they get the lemon from to dress the fish?
