The official PH Coronation Street thread
Discussion
So someone clear this up for me.
Adam was with Billy as his solicitor when he was being questioned by the police about this historic crime. Surely during the questioning, the police would have referred to the date. Did that not strike Adam as a coincidence, that the night this all happened, and the location it occurred in, was the very same date that he was involved in a serious car crash as a kid, the crash in which his mum died. And the same location. I mean, even if he forgot the date, it's on her gravestone.

Too many loose ends, crazy story lines and sloppy writing is spoiling the Corrie experience for me. Is it really necessary to have so many stories going at the same time. No wonder the writers can't keep up and give up in the end.
I think most regular contributors to this thread will agree with that. The show has diverged quite a bit from its original ethos, when back in the '60s it was all about typical days in the lives of its working-class Northern folk. All we had to digest was family rows, a bit of lust or romance, a bit of banter of a friendly nature. Now it's all about nationwide social issues, trying to use established characters and personalities to portray these, and I'm afraid it doesn't always work. It's dangerous ground, and I think we all agree that the writers should concentrate on what they do best. They're trying to pack so much in that quite frankly I've sometimes forgotten all about one storyline until it re-appears in another week and tries to integrate itself into yet another confusing mish-mash of events. Surely a coupke of "stories" at a time is enough?
Have they also lost track of real time? The dinner party last night had a Christmas theme a whole month in advance.
I think Coronation Street has changed beyond recognition from where it was even ten years ago, but we live in a fast changing world with issues that just wouldn't have been talked about back then.
Personally, I am not happy about two men openly kissing in a public house on prime time TV at 7.30, if that makes me an old fuddy duddy so be it.
The female action in the back of the van at 7:59 was OK though....
This Corrie forum is like the Hotel California, you can enter but you can never leave.
Stick with it, we usually have some explosive Christmas storylines to look forward to, maybe the viaduct will collapse or something.....

Talking of shifty characters, what the heck is the connection between Mary and George's illnesses? I can't believe that Corrie are going to implicate her in child abuse, maybe only tenuously. I wonder if it's something like her perfume, or even sweets she gives him. I hope they don't drag this on for too long.
He will be allergic to some types of flowers or something.Mary had taken him to "Prestons petals" each time he has been ill.

Plus she put flowers in his hair for a photo! Its elementary my dear Watson......
Except an allergic reaction is easy to diagnose. Three trips to A&E without spotting it means the Weatherfield NHS is as fecking incompetent as the Weatherfield Police.Probably Ebola, as they are from Effrica.
Crikey! My personal opinion about a soap tackling social issues is that it's understable and acceptable iof it's a fairly commonplace issue like same-sex relationships, critical illnesses or child abuse. This proposed scenario is hardly something that happens all the time and I wonder whether it could scare some people into thinking it is. Corrie can be very "dark" sometimes - not really my cup of tea.

Not my cup of tea either.
Nor mine.... IMO it's always been a bit of light entertainment, with a touch or reality......now it seems to be more like a documentary on a mission with way too heavy storylines for my liking......not enough Stan/ Hilda, Jack Vera or I say, I say Fred characters now.Gassing Station | TV, Film, Video Streaming & Radio | Top of Page | What's New | My Stuff
