I have done the legals on a couple of business transfers and ..err..it took me more than 2 days and what looked like a 2 page agreement . 2 pages ! TUPE, lease/ freehold transfer, work in progress , general due diligence, stock value, IT transfer etc - not as easy as on planet soap. Mind you , a script about TUPE would not spike the viewing figures to new heights ...
Picky picky Maybe Adam did the legals

I've temporarily given up on Corrie... But has Alya sold the whole lot to Carla?
Yes, for only 36% of its true value. We don't know what Peter got for the Rovers, although clearly Toyah gets half, and we don't know what Underworld is worth. The whole thing is a scriptwriters wet dream - keep 'em in the dark and they won't ask questions.Quite how a knicker factory can pay the wages of about 15 staff and provide a profit is a real mystery. Sherlock Holmes would be baffled.
Gary's so called acting style is based on a permanent scowl complemented by intermittent shouting and hitting inanimate objects . As poor as Eva and Michelle , whose usp is to depend upon loud sniffing to convey emotion. God I do miss Norris's brilliant acting - but at least we still have Gemma (cruising a bit at the moment though )and Roy , the master . I must say Toyah is showing some nuance in her speeches now too - unlike Leanne's single dimensional shtick .

Well he does suffer PTSD after his mate "Quinny" was killed by an IED in Afghanistan to be fair To echo others, the script writers really should put a bit more thought into the businesses. So many annoyances.
The knicker factory would have gone out of business decades ago for a start, very unrealistic that it's still going at all.
Peter, the recovering alcoholic, multi-divorced waster who kips in his dad's spare room has somehow managed to do so well in business he can purchase half the factory without questioning how much he needs to part with.
Yasmeen instantly knew that 18% of the factory wouldn't be enough to buy Imran's share in Speed Daal.
Businesses changing hands at a seconds notice. Johnny needing to sell his flat to fund the purchase of the Rovers, that all seemed to happen the same day.
Also, Tracy the florist. Don't get me started on that. My sister-in-law went to college and has been getting her business slowly off the ground for years. Tracy just decides to open a shop, knows exactly what she's doing and it's an instant success.
Then there's the Solicitors...

To be fair, Tracy had been a trained florist in the past. What is a tad mysterious is how she managed to get an Interflora franchise immediately upon opening. (I realise it's product placement, but I'm thinking of the real world). With such a franchise, you do get a fair number of orders which otherwise you would struggle to obtain, and it would be enough to produce a profit. Can't say there'd be enough to pay the wages of an assistant, though. The knicker factory would have gone out of business decades ago for a start, very unrealistic that it's still going at all.

You make a good poinmt about Peter's funds. Where did he get the cash to buy the Rovers? Was it from Ken, I can't remember? Whatever, he's now using it to help buy Underworld and I'm not all that sure Ken would be happy with that.
We've had numerous instances of Corrie residents not obtaining a bank loan (e.g. Henry and Gemma) but otherwise there seems to be a lot of cash floating around in the Street which has been easily obtained and very rapidly spent. Perhaps there's a lack of due diligence by their solicitors.

Aw, the soft side of me is feeling sorry for Sean, looks like 'Come on Eileen' is on the case though.
It'll probably be her sofa though. Her 2-bed terrace has 3 bedrooms and a bathroom upstairs - Eileen, Abi and Seb. Unless mother and son sleep together There's always the front room I suppose, which we have never seen.Gassing Station | TV, Film, Video Streaming & Radio | Top of Page | What's New | My Stuff
