The official PH Coronation Street thread

The problem with a cull is that the script will have to explain who now lives in the various houses in the street. There's the rub - the writers have to find a storyline for every house, otherwise the occupants have no relevance. I agree there are too many characters now - what about a tram crash?.
I never cease to be amazed at the number of "other people" wandering around the area and in the various shops. What are they doing there? A backstreet area in a large connurbation would be more or less empty during the day, with everyone at work in the city centre.
I don't favour a massive cull, but some are past their sell-by date (Rita, Ken) and some are pointless (Jude, Emma, who has the oddest face I've seen for many moons). If they don't have any relevance, why bring them in? I''m concerned about the direction of the "Billy's family unit" in his flat. What a disparate bunch! In reality it would be a mental nightmare for Summer, poor kid. A gay bible-thumper tree-hugger, another gay with depression issues, a bubbly yet fecking annoying teenage girl with modest income and little or no conversation. How those long winter evenings must fly by.
Meanwhile Claudia hasn't noticed that Maria has disappeared and there's no cash forthcoming. As you do.

And this is the main issue with a show set on that street in 2018, it's so unrealistic because it doesn't happen. Most of the people on that street work there, eat there, drink there, socialise there and fall in and out of love there. It just doesn't happen in reality. My wife gets annoyed when I roll my eyes at the latest love triangle or whatever because it is mostly bks

Thanks Sparky. Nice one.TBH I'd never noticed those before, the production crew tend to concentrate on Eva.
I don't really understand why the show introduced her to the cast - she doesn't have any sort of significant role.

What's the betting Lewis tries to get Audrey's house off her..
Paying Gail the 40k back!!

Regarding a cull, a tram crash wouldn't do, they had one of those a few years back when it fell off the viaduct....maybe a terrorist with a sub machine gun could go in and wipe the lot out. Oh no....Kate Oates has gone.

Rita wasn't as ecstatic as you'd expect someone to be receiving £15k out of the blue.
Of all the coincidences of getting £15k and a minute later being sat next to a business opportunity in the pub that should just about be covered nicely by £15k....Gassing Station | TV, Film, Video Streaming & Radio | Top of Page | What's New | My Stuff
