Maureen Lipman is really a class act. It's a pity she has come in after Norris left as I would imagine the pair would be comedy gold :-)

I was about to post about Sally's windfall when Kev won on the scratchcard, and then Sally answered it for me - she bought Tim's share in Street Cars. So her savings are gone.

Gemma's outfit! At least she could keep your ears warm at night.

PS Jenny signs up for Lady Lovin' - do you think she's inadvertantly signed up for lesbian love?
PPS Tim may think marriage means shared everything, but Sally is the only one who can sign the conveyance.

Does anyone else think that Gemma would be a fantastic shag?

He's due back now well, according to the red-tops.

Me too. Great actor, great character. Presumably he'll come back with a good recipe for guinea-pig hotpot.

You'll have to fight Chesney (gnome boy) to have a chance. You distract him and I'll have a go.

Well the trailers for the Christmas special are out....
Jenny reminded me of Bet Lynch when she was schooling Jonnies daughter.

Super-efficient estate agent there. Tells Tim she’ll put the house on the market as the ‘For Sale’ sign is being erected in the front garden smile

They’ll complete the sale in 20 minutes, as well. Amazing efficiency.

I still like the way Corrie writers mix in the fake Corrie world (Freshco etc) into the real daily world of corporate sponsorship (Costa) and find it funny watching for product placement on set. For years we've had them drinking cans of fake lager, and avoiding genuine products by making fake boxes/labels up.

We've now got the whole fake social media and dating apps ("love length" and "face ache" or whatever) that Jenny is using to flog off Liz :-)

Someone noticed I think that characters are holding empty Costa cups and putting their own milk in coffees, you tend to notice fake cereals and products in Des's corner shop in scenes.

The prison scenes seem to be a free for all of wandering about at any time of day or night to use the single fixed phone, not one inmate having an illegal mobile phone to use, or needing to be locked in of an evening.

It's a semi real world like an alternate reality with creeping commercialism on every corner but still with the comedy acting thrown in. I still love it or hate it at times, couldn't bear to think of ever watching any other soap mind You, how people watch eastenders drudgery is beyond me !

Agree! The daft Corrie world where everyone has money to burn (Eileen shrugging her shoulders at losing her holiday cost) and nobody ever does any work at Underworld (take the day off you have a headache) plus everyone eats out and buys bottles of wine at pub prices
and any legal transaction takes place in the pub/bistro in public then happens instantly. Makes for interesting viewing and is part of the fun.

I like to imagine the world of Corrie is akin to Dark City, ie, there's nothing beyond the street, just a void

In fairness, it's always the same in soapland. I suppose it's one of the restrictions of only having so much of a set. Like in Enders, there's what, maybe 50 or so characters? Not one of them works away from the square, or owns a washing machine (if the launderette is anything to go by)

And no, I gave up watching the hateful soap years ago.

You will have seen the recent thread about the 'Enders new set?
One thing that always comes across as unbelievable is how they talk openly about the most private and personal things in public places with other people sat less than 6ft away. Prime example was last night when Sally and skinny whatserface were discussing buying drugs from inmate No. 3 and there was a prison officer in the background stood facing them just 3ft away!
