The writers really aren't giving enough lines to the best characters. Steve and Tim are OK for content at the moment, but Mary seems to have been forgotten. I can't wait for Norris to return - sorry, does that count as a spoiler?

Presumably the rebuilding of the factory will rely on the outcome of the investigation. If the insurance company suspects foul play, they don't cough up. What then? Surely the local council would insist on the building being made safe and tidied up as a bare minimum. Looks like we'll be fobbed off with a "soap" storyline which ignores these basic facts of life.

Peter will come to the rescue having found more money down the back of the sofa and hand it all back to Carla having bought Nick out at knock down price. All the staff will be re-employed,Carla having forgotten the outsourcing plot, and get a "start again" bonus. Sorry if this is a spoiler but more stupid stories have made it in Corrie recently.

8 hours and a few hundred quid, the factory will be as good as new and in full production.

The healing waters of the street will have Ena Sharples back in action.

Now there's a character I'd love to see back on the street. Sadly not possible but it would be fun to see her and her acerbic tongue up against Evelyn in full flow.

Don't forget Blanche. She was always good value for a 1 line put down!

A lazy , lazy canard . Don't the scriptwriters ever, ever have an original idea on characterisation ? Mary and Roy apart , it is awash with stereotypes.

Thanks Wacky. Right on the dollar with that clip. Wonderful characters all round (not like now) - Stan and Hilda, Leonard Swindley, dear old Jack Walker, Len Fairclough getting another payday from the broken window.

BTW did you notice the realistic litter in the gutter and on the pavement? Not a lot, but typical of the period. Probably fag packets.

Corrie Continuity - it's a game for all the family. Tonight, it's Sarah's Polo. Mysteriously appears from nowhere, never seen before, never parked in the street or in her driveway. Nice to know she's got a car like most people, unlike many of her neighbours.

Anyone else notice the Father Ted reference in tonight’s episode...the toy cow on the caravan table when Gemma & Joseph we’re playing cards.

Spinning wheels throw mud onto face of pusher. It's not even funny to a 3-year old. Panto ditched it decades ago. Was it supposed to be ironic comedy in an edgy style?

Poor Ches ! A 4-mile walk would take an hour even without shopping to carry. That fish must have been stone cold.

Good old monkey boy. He volunteers information to the police even though they haven't asked for it. Isn't he supposed to be smart?
