Whilst I accept I'm in a minority relating to Tony and the dredge, let's note a couple of things :

We've never really seen Tony mine. It's always been Tony as landlord. Tony screaming at people. Tony breaking up a dredge. Even when he or the kids fire up the normal sluices, it's a few seconds then Winny looking mean when it's weighed out.

He's a pantomime, making dosh as an actor. A new dredge isn't going to fit that (look at how much attention they paid to Parker and his super new sluice) image and narrative. Instead we get two seasons of Tony beating st out of old metal that likely cost a hell of a lot less than a million bucks.

Then we have Todd. So fking useless, one wonders how on earth they are still alive, and seemingly able to afford to eat enough to grow a belly the size of Arkansas. He's a st. Anyone that makes such a big deal out of being 'nice' and that righteous, is almost invariably an utter ahole.

He's not poor, hence the ability to loan a chunk of change, keep leasing land and burning fuel. I also very much doubt the weigh ins we see are anything like the truth. If they were, he's wasted mining - he should he running a cult.

It's TV, the broad brushes are planned and scripted to the fullest. Yes, the details are figured out as they go along, but they don't turn up at the beginning of the season hoping some decent TV moments will happen.

I don’t get why they are diving in the water at all. It’s only about 6-8 foot deep, why not just get a long pipe on the end of the hose and stick it down to the bottom from the surface and move it back and forward to collect what’s on the bottom?

If they really need to see what’s down there just stick a go pro on the end of it.

I wonder how much money he has spent so far on trying (and failing) to move it and if he had built one from scratch, how much quicker would it have been given that it would have found gold by now?

Every time a plant goes down they go on about how much gold they have lost.
Given how much gold his son is pulling out of the ground, how much has Tony lost while pissing around with barges etc?
But its his land, and the gold will be there when he gets round to it. Its not 'lost' gold so much as 'not yet collected' gold. The likes of Todd and Parker who are on rented grounds, with royalties to pay and large staff costs are in a different position to Tony. Tony can afford to take his time while his kids pull a few hundred thousand a week out the ground, with very little cost. If you've got a team of 10 people who all need paying, such as Todd, then stopping for a few days is a much bigger deal.

White water dredging - looked hard work for little reward? All that effort to get the kit out to the middle of nowhere, to dive in very dangerous water. No thanks. Carlos didnt look very impressed with the state of play compared with the situations he will have been used to in the commercial world.

Seems alot of wasted manpower with the diving. Whole days diving and only 1 bloke is working and the rest watching.

I see the next episide of white water clueless investor Todd turns up, I expect he will bring his usual faecal touch and completely ruin any chance of them finding gold in the river!
Anyone else watching Yukon gold? I’m enjoying that too, older machinery and a bit less staged drama.

Parker and Tony are smashing their season targets and Todd will be smashing more pies at the end of the season...

I've enjoyed this season but it has been missing something I can't put my finger on.

Maybe just too used to the Todd circus and the others doing well, every season.

Not really a surprise but Todd has left Gold Rush, he won't be mining next season.

Just watched the first one out of interest where they transport the stuff to the new site - it’s a bit like a bad top gear special - does it get better?

Not sure it gets better tbh, it's become a bit stale in my opinion. You won't really miss out on much if you go straight to the last episode.

Have I missed one?

Looked for GR and White Water on Wednesday, on Now TV, as usual (never get to see it 'live' on a Tues night) and it wasn't there.

Was it on on Tuesday?

Did no one notice what Todd was wearing as he cried about god? Zum media. That’s his new media company that will be producing TV shows.

I’ve said it 100 times before and here it is again....

Todd Hoffman is a TV personality and reality TV producer. In the early days of gold rush he had a web site running that confirmed season 1 was a TV show and not him making money out of gold. Todd’s operation would not have made money any year. He seemed to get funding each year. That was his TV company! His employees may have been relying on the gold but he sure wasn’t. That’s why they would get so frustrated. He made decisions for good TV and not good gold.

It’s also why Tony and Parker hate him.

He is now off to make his fortune in TV without the burden of a BS goldmine.
