The Great British Bake Off thread 2014
Discussion
Sue perkins has waded into the defence of the sabotaging old bag who left iains icecream out.
She claims his baked alaska was out of the freezer for 40 seconds tops. Not enough time to cause it to turn to soup.
Imho. he got binned caus his bakes were tatty and he threw a ginger bearded hissy fit.

However they had an option that they took in an earlier series where the guy didn't present a showstopper due to a cut finger.
Decision nobody goes, next week two are given marching orders.
So it was 25 degrees in the tent. Everyone had trouble to some extent. Either the freezers aren't up to it or they have not given them sufficient time.
Production team being morons. Last time it was hot weather it was a similar situation. Contestants couldn't get stuff cool, plus when they filmed the masterclass the two stooges gave themselves far longer in time.

Deliberately making conditions difficult in order to ramp up the tension?Decision nobody goes, next week two are given marching orders.

she appeared more embarassed than sorry. iain should have made a mucky protest with his ruined ice-cream.
i was a bit surprised when they were all chatting at the end about how everyone had done, they went through all the contestants but forgot about martha... you know, the one that won the technical and did a really good showstopper???

It wasn't a level playing field as regards the freezers either, the horizontal chest freezers stay pretty cold when you open them carefully, the uprights immediately dump the cold air on the floor and fill up with air at room temperature.Decision nobody goes, next week two are given marching orders.

I would say it doesn't matter if it was 40s or an hour, you don't interfere with another person's product. You ask them to move it. You don't dump it on the side.
