Front had told Nacho to gain Salamanca’s trust in a previous scene. What better way to do it than to risk it all to get those drugs back.

The scene might not have worked but I feel the reason it’s in there is to show how we gains that trust.
Which I totally understand, it's just the reaction of the characters on learning how much they're about to lose is disproportionate to the amount of drugs inside the building. If you move 12,000 grams, then losing less than 28grams isn't hurting you. If Lalo hadn't given a fk about the drugs and Nacho went in anyway then that would make the scene work, likewise if the quantity of drugs had been significant.

I just assumed the quantity of drugs would have been smaller at this stage in the story but I get what you mean.

Enjoyed episode 3 as well.

The beginning ice cream scene with ants and the beer bottle scene on the balcony were brilliantly shot.

Saul Goodman transitioning from petty street lawyer to kingpin lawyer now...

Hank and Gomez appearing was a great moment

Either the producers are completely naive and think the amount of drugs they're showing on screen is significant or they dropped the ball. Instead of risking arrest to retrieve a handful of baggies, in reality Nacho would just turn to the two mugs in the back and say "oops, I guess you owe us for an ounce of coke. You'll have that $600 in a week, yeah?" and they'd be like "sure Nacho, no problem". Whereas if they'd just lost 6 kilos then they'd have a serious fking problem.
Maybe, but the point of that scene was for Nacho to show Lalo that he would do anything for him/the cartel. Asking the two goons to make up their end next week (assuming that were even possible) doesn't really achieve that. Actions speak louder than words.

I agree that the amount of drugs on the line was disproportionate to Lalo's reaction though. It should've been one of those blocks at least.

It really hit home how CGI and reality are incredibly difficult to tell apart at times, I could have probably just watched the ants for the whole episode.

Spin off?

Yep. Had to Google after watching, wasn't 100% sure myself. Really impressive shots.

I love Better Call Saul but it seems to have lost some of its identity over the last couple of episodes. Can't quite put my finger on what's different.

Todays episode was just a bit meh, have enjoyed the previous three, but this one didn't really tell us anything we didn't already know.
