Interesting comments on here. Like everyone else I was gutted by Jethros review and then conflicted by Harry's which suggested the opposite, that no excuses are needed. To give context however EVO still gave it a solid four star rating and the tyres on the sport model were obviously a factor. To be fair the lap time wasn't disastrous. On michelin cups it could easily be a second or so faster and then you're knocking on the door of a 992 Carrera S. Also I do feel they're right to call out the weight as it's too heavy for a Lotus and in sport form the firm ride. Also EVO made the Evora their 2009 car of the year and took flak for it So they're hardly lotus haters. Talking of the Evora that car seemed better sorted out of the box, e.g there was one model and I can't remember any criticism of either track or road performance. Just my take on it. I support Harry with his road review policy btw. Too many tests are lazy fastest lap type affairs which tell the watcher nothing about how the car will behave on a wet B road.

The one thing I remain curious about is the Touring's standard spec Goodyear F1 Supersport tires. I'm unfamiliar with these and understand they are fairly new to the market. I don't normally think of Goodyears as being in the same class as Michelins and so that surprised me.
Having tried both on the same car, the Goodyear Eagle F1 Supersport are similar to the Michelin PS4S, the turn in is slightly better on the Goodyear but perhaps slightly less outright grip. Neither are close to the Michelin Cup 2 in the dry so unfair of evo to compare to the GT4 on Cup 2's... not even the GT4 could get close to that when using road tyres!

Not sure of all the facts but when did Porsche decide to put the 4l in the cayman GTS? Was that after the A110 challenged/pummelled the smaller engine turbo caymans and then Porsche found out the Emira was coming with a V6. Did Porsche react to that and the fact the turbo cars were being panned- noise, soul etc?

Is there another Top Gear review ? I can only find one of an early prototype.

Evo's review is compromised by being track focused but on road tyres.

Looking forward to Catchpole...
The EVO review was done by Catchpole
But he was wearing a bloody convincing Bovingdon suit at the time.
Four out of five stars and describes it as being "very, very satisfying". The drive was mostly eCoty roads leading to Monaco.

Congratulations! Which version have you gone for? I'm properly tempted by the FE V6 but no idea if I've missed the boat already. Hoping to get a close-up look at FoS before making my mind up.

You don't confirm spec yet .. and yes its a first edition still .. I wonder how many first editions are planned and actually what is unique about the first edition (a badge?!)

Thanks!

AIUI, at least Seneca Blue is a unique FE colour. The FE is an "all the toys" spec too. If the Evora is anything to go by, if you were to get a regular Emira later, you'd have to add options (probably as packs) and you'd end up paying more for the privilege of an equivalent spec.

I see the deposit is now £4,000. Wasn't it £2,000 initially? 9,000 orders of £4k is £36m which is a fair chunk of cash.

9000 seems like a lot for a first edition .. doesn't seem very exclusive.

Dunno, maybe at some point they'll stop and convert those deposits to be on the standard edition?

How is the Emira doing in terms of sales?

A lot better than we expected! We have over 8,000 orders, probably closer to 9,000. So the order book is very strong. The demand very early on made us reassess what we were going to do production numbers wise. This year, we were planning to do 3,000 but we're now doing 4,000. Next year we plan to do 5,000.

The original deposit was £2k but then I think you needed to add another £3k on top of that at a later date. The 9,000(?) deposits are spread across V6 FE, I4 FE, V6 Base and I4 Base, I haven't seen a break down of how it's split between those.

Where has anyone mentioned "exclusivity"?

FE is an intro offer. That's all.

It'll likely be the cheapest way into a new Emira ever. From here, price (and likely performance) goes up.

Nearly 400bhp

Then putting it into context with weight / showing BHP/tonne for a variety of models. This must be quite a weapon

Harry, you will get a copywrite claim if you don’t remove the music from the workshop.

Good news in the mpg but bad news on the “additional” miles on the car. Would that have and impact on value?

Are you suggesting Harry does not care about the value? Unlike you, I am not going to assume for Harry, but if I was in his position, I would care as for me it would be the value of these very well bought cars that allow the evolution of the collection.

Also, I thought it would be an interesting insight from Harry, as Seinfeld has just settled a $1.5M lawsuit after he sold on a classic Porsche that was not as described. In that case, Seinfeld bought it in good faith believing the specification was legitimate and he passed on the incorrect information.
