I've just checked, Mercedes don't even offer a C63 at the moment, an E63 starts at £122k, an RS4 with all the options is £86k (still no expensive carbon brakes) and all reviews suggest this blows the RS4 out of the water, and a new (more expensive one, obviously) will be on the way soon. So again, I'd be keen to know what other estate cars people can suggest which show that £100k for a fully loaded car with carbon brakes is overpriced? Or is everyone living in 2003 instead of 2023?

Ah, the old "used cars are cheaper than new cars" situation. Whilst I agree, I've never bought a new car, and probably never will, I find it daft to compare the two situations. When a 991 came out did you say "far too expensive, I'd rather have a used xyz"? Because if everyone did the same they'd never be any used 991s for you to buy. Also, the whole idea of the M3 touring is that it can do both at once. If you're driving your family on holiday someone with some roads you might want to enjoy you can't take the 991 as it wouldn't fit everyone, so you're left with a 320dreary instead.

Respect it is a V12 but Purosangue does nothing for me, overweight blob
I see it more of an underweight FFRR with an epic engine.

The price obviously isn't putting off potential owners if it's sold out. I just hope they're going to use them and not just flip or dry store them.
Given how low it is, it's more of a crossover than an SUV so it's less Range Rover with an epic engine and more Quashkai with the correct engine. biggrin

Only option ticked here is paint for €2k. Now who was giving out about the £84k list price ?

It was a competition model, I tried adding a load of options and got it to £112k

Still comes in almost €30k less than we’d have to pay for the almost standard one. Count your lucky stars you lot that you only have to pay £100k smile

I do like the M3 (nose not perfect), however the Alpina would be my choice (green, brown leather, no side stripe).

I like the idea of the performance but in a more comfortable road orientated set up. If you know, you know and all the better for being a bit more subtle. It’s just classier.

What’s got more edge at the ultimate limit or track ability is pretty irrelevant.

Is the Alpina more comfortable? We didn't hear anything about that, all he said was the Alpina has much smaller tyre sidewalls.

They only do a competition model

I'd still be interested in hearing about an alternative estate which is as sharp to drive for much cheaper (it'd have to be much cheaper, because a similar price would suggest it isn't overpriced) smile

They can't be in too much demand, the one on CC this evening failed to get to the list price the buyer paid of 90k

I agree but it'll still go as far offroad as the average Range Rover will.

Seems like someone has touched a nerve, don't take the criticism too seriously

Too expensive for something not special enough IMO. I’d be trying to find the extra for a Lusso T if it had to be one car in that elevated price range.

Such a nice looking car.

His friend is probably in for an M3 Touring after Harry's review laugh

Some BMW's like the E60 5 series looked really odd when they launched but a couple of years down the line they blended in better, sadly the M3 front grill still looks as horrific today as it did at launch.

The Alpina looks a lot more aesthetically pleasing from the front for a daily driver.

I saw a few pics of this Mazda mx30. How long before we see Ferrari badges on them?

The other way round would be more apt though would someone spending that much of a sense of humour plus if you did rebadge it would Ferrari throw their toys out of the pram and take legal action like they did to the DJ who replaced the prancing horse with a cat?

Considering the Mazda's been out for coming upto three years now it would be odd if at some point Ferrari didn't realise the similarities between the vehicles.
It would be very funny to put Mazda badges on the Ferrari.

I saw that, although you also have to factor in the 6 percent extra the buyer would have to pay. Suggests there isn't an overseas market though.

There is a Volvo 240 at our local supermarket that has these on the front wings;

Naff? probably. I don't care, they are always worth a chuckle when I see them biggrin

I'm quite tempted by the M3 estate. I sold at 340 estate because it had absolutely no feel though. I bought it to turn into a family shed and the i6 engine is just too good not to go for but it was an exercise in sensory depravation and a real disappointment. I felt totally disconnected from the road and surroundings along with impressive blind spots that meant triple checking everything and driving slower. I also thought the map in the ZF8 was terrible with it getting endlessly confused by coasting to junctions and then going without coming to a halt.

What could have been an epic car was ruined by lab technicians who never went out into the wide world and were only guessing how reality worked from reading books.

I'd be interested to see if the M3 deals with those issues.

For a tour through Italy in the early 2000s, a group of kit car owners had these badges made up. The disapproving looks on the faces of the locals around Moderna made some of us wonder if the cars might be the subject of vandalism. On reflection, we probably should have covered them up when we visited the Ferrari museum.
