Interesting review on the RR SV. I have that a similar spec on order (same engine but AB not SV). I also have an L405 in p400e form. Harry has made me question whether I should just go for the D350. Not sure I could ever go back to smelly derv again though - I've been all petrol/EV for four years.

All slightly moot as my FFRR order has been in for a year and seems to be at least 6 months away.

Revisiting the RS6 was great. It looks so understated compared to the models today, which really appeals.

I couldn't live with the fuel economy even if I accepted the bork potential.

That Range Rover didn't impress me at all. Can't see what it offered over the 'base' model really.

And that sill plate was at best fitted by mistake and most likely broken already.

Makes a tidy 4.4 diesel L322 look like the bargain of the century at circa 15-20k.
Agree - awful wheels, awful SV ceramic sticker on the back, weird luxury seat gimmick, pointless PHEV system (yes it's nice and quiet but costs the same as 29mpg and increases the weight even further).
Unless £60k is of no consequence to you I don't know what it offers above the base model.

I agree that I see this RR as a box ticking exercise which meant the car wasn’t as good as it should have been.

Also as mentioned why pay top dollar when the standard RR does it so well coupled with the fact that fixtures & fittings didn’t come up to standard in a 160k car, sill plate being a good example.

Wheels reminded me of cheap old 911 copies & I liked the paint but it looked like it had been to Yianni’s.

It does feel with the new RR that the SV is more like an incremental trim level rather than a significant jump upwards, especially as one can spec it with a less powerful engine than an Autobiography for example.

And having just played around with the configurator, I actually think the non-SV is a slightly better looking car, and I prefer the interior options..

Saw a 296 in town yesterday too with the optional stripe. Pretty sure I would rather have a couple of nice holidays to be honest.
A couple? Pretty sure I could squeeze 10 to 15 in. hehe

I liked the overall look of the RR (except the wheel choice) the paint looked really good but wow what a price for it, the cabin up front looked great but the "exe" seating at the rear was a bit odd Harry was just perched there with his legs way above above his hips it didn't look very comfortable a 7 or S class do this much better.

The D350 would be my choice I don't get the hate for a modern diesel with all the emissions controls fitted as they suit these cars.

SV is clearly poor value for what you’re getting (even if it is now the only way to get the V8 and BRG).

Hybrids are surely destined to be a footnote in history - whichever way you justify their use, you’re dragging around an entire separate powertrain. Diesel still makes sense in something like this (especially at nearly 40mpg on a run).

Yep, agreed as well, the wheels were awful plus little details like the SV badge only on one sill finisher etc.

That’s got to be a mistake, surely?

I suspect someone’s currently having a meeting (without biscuits) about this.

I thought the same when I saw that. Some poor bod will be having to answer so uncomfortable questions.

So they should though. It’s the press car!

I suppose if that sort of money doesn’t matter then why not. Like many though I think it represents poor value. I’ve a P400SE and I does pretty well as standard. Just driven 700 miles across France in it and it performed very well indeed!

Exactly what I thought too. I can't get on with those matt paint finishes either, it just makes me think Yianni's been at it. As for the 'disappointing' MPG, surely if you can afford to hose £160k on a Range Rover, MPG becomes largely irrelevant?

It isn't necessarily "hosing" £160k though. If bought as a company car it's generally pretty cheap (ish) compared to a £160k ICE car due to the fact it's a hybrid.

I was also massively unimpressed with the SV. Rear leg room looked bad, even if you fold the front passenger into a BDSM position. That screen in the rear to play with the seats won't last very long I suspect and the UI already seemed slow.

Wheels ugly (easy fix), ceramic badge hideous. SV logo on the sills can't even see it.

160 grand. No thanks. V8 Bentayga for the same money, no brainer.

Or rather...Dodge ram TRX. Ok not quite as sophisticated as a RR or Bentley, but loads of space in the interior, massive amounts of luggage space. 700hp V8. And not exactly short on toys.
