Speaking of the BBC's coverage of the election, they missed yet another opportunity today to point out, when discussing RBS's 'threat' to move their registered office to England, that a registered office need not be much more than a plate on a wall.
Scary threat, eh!
Were they trying to make the whole thing sound interesting, or were they suggesting/hinting that people should vote no? I'm going with option 1 there. They failed.
Capital Requirements Directive IV requires credit institutions to have their office in the same member state as their registered office. Head office is interpreted as the mind and management of the company so more than just a few directors - the regulators would expect key functions such as risk management, compliance and internal audit to be based there.Scary threat, eh!

So a lot more than just the "brass plate" on a wall that the Yes Campaign suggested.

It's not usuusal for threads on TV programmes or the media to diverge to the general topic being covered by the media.
I still assert that the underlying questions about how the UK is governed raised by the Scottish Independent debate will be discussed in the media for a long time to come - especially as long as it remains a topic being debated by the UK political parties themselves.
