That's a decent sentence. 29 Years.
Am I supposed to be pleased that I have got to keep them for 20 odd years?
Yeah this is all about you mate...
Whether it is about me or not. Do you think that we have a good result?

Two years ago (or whenever it was) we had three young men getting with their, rather illegal, lives, we now have one dead and two sentenced to more than twenty years in jail. I consider that to be seriously bad news.

Is the Great British Public supposed to be pleased that they are locked away?
Let's move them in next door to you then.

My wife and I we discussing during the program last night how they kept showing pics of Sam from 5 years previously at his prom, not any of him as he was at the time of the murder. He was 20 going on 21 but was referred to as a "boy" in both the programme and in the local media at the time. If it had been he that teemed up with one of the other two to kill one of them and the dynamic was different would he still have been classed as a boy?

They also conveniently left out that Jordan is from a well known traveller family and Sam was far from an angel himself.

I thought the picture of the couple dressed up was him and his current girlfriend, not from 5 years ago.

Was the memorial picture of Sam strictly necessary ?

He was hardly an innocent victim of a random attack, a drug dealing piece of st killed by jealous rivals if truth be told.
Honestly whilst I don't think someone selling weed is an Angel I certainly don't think they deserve to get killed.

There was some serious jealousy there and to kill someone you have lived with and spent every day with is such a snakey piece of st thing to do its beyond comprehension. A rival, a gang a random killing in the street following a drunken fight but pre meditated of someone that fully trusts you is seriously sinister.

It is the same girl, they had been together since they were at school together at hinchingbrooke from what Ive been told. If you notice in the cctv images they show he looked very different to the pics they kept using of him posing with a cricket bat and in a suit (the prom one)

Surely there has to be more to the story than C4 covered?

Yes, I know he looked different. I just assumed it was her (more recent) prom not his.

The articles posted above seem to have a bit more detail, including the purchase of the Baseball Bats

Seemed to hint that he was getting a bit big for his boots and mouth gangstery

Exactly, he often carried a firearm she admitted, probably replica but not for shooting tin cans purely for protection and frightening people.
You mean ‘a strap’
Pissed myself at that... a fking BB gun... too much TV for this lot me thinks!
Her voice was a bit quiet and I was half watching whilst doing something. What she said was “he often had a strap on him”

What I heard was “he often had a strap on”

Made me look up pretty quick.

Back to sensible stuff, no wonder these county lines gangs are having a field day away from the cities If these 2 morons are the hardest dealers in a town.
They wouldn’t last 10 seconds against the organised big boys in London.

A sad state of affairs all round.

Is the series carrying on or was that a special?

Thanks, just read them. Shocking, imagine being driven to kill someone over jealousy of £2k.

I wondered if the motive was that Ashley needed to set himself up as a dealer (he'd just come out of prison hadn't he?) and so got in with that Jordan where they then plotted to take Sam out and let Ashley have the action instead.
How they ever thought they'd get away with it is beyond me but as others pointed out, maybe if they hadn't started pointing the finger at each other then they might just have.

Got to be more 2 it. The deceased was a no one why kill him. Rob him, beat him up, intimidate him and his family and he would move away, run away. The fact he went so easily with the other 2 showed he trusted them and everything was fine.

To actually want to eliminate him by killing him he must have seriously done something to anger them.

Can't see prison being easy for these 2 grasses

Tick debt, perhaps? Who knows other than the fact that the police played it perfectly against both suspects and got a double murder conviction out of them. They certainly got shown in a better light than in a few other episodes we have seen of this biggrin

27 years without parole for a single bumping off is very welcome but unusually severe.
I take the appeal to reduce sentence was unsuccessful.

It still seems courts regard murder involving money and drugs as more severe than murder involving insanity, sexual predation, jealousy, rage, passion.
Never did understand that.

Aaron Campbell murdered and raped 6 year old Alesha MacPhail and got a maximum of 24 years [ Scottish System ].

The premeditation has a bearing I'd imagine. These 2 were caught red handed planning it every step of the way.

I'm not a legal expert but I did think this would have had an impact on the sentencing. Buying clothes specifically for this, taking care to avoid CCTV (poorly, tbf), leading him in to a wooded area with a plan to chore someone elses crops etc etc. But for a couple of grand it still properly beggars belief.

I could easily look it up butcan't be bothered but I believe for murder the 'starting point' is 30 years and then there are mitigating and agrevating factors that respectively lower or add to the sentence. Assides from the 1/3 off you get for an early guilty plea, which would have saved them a theoretical 8-9 years each (depending on parole), mitigation can include things like age of perp, crime of passion, provocation, and then maybe things like duress, cooercian, insanity, self defense etc. Agrevation can include premeditation, sexual gratification, murder of a minor, multiple murders, use of illegal weapons, torture etc. I can't remember Alesha murder circumstances but may have been that he was young, and tried in Scotland which has a variation of sentencing guidelines.
