People who routinely engage in illegal activity be it something heinous like abuse, or assault or something comparatively minor like drug use or breaking the speed limit tend to be able to justify it to themselves. These people often exist in a bubble or echo chamber where their views are tolerated or accepted, many distort concepts of free speech and social freedom to justify their behaviour. So from their point of view they often don't believe that they are doing anything wrong.

Like the guy who said "yes, it's probably wrong in your laws" as if that was some kind of excuse for arranging to meet up with a 12-year-old.

It is quite disturbing to sit through. I'm waiting for the episode where they turn up and find that the person on the other end of the messages is an undercover cop who is trying to stop vigilantes.

Which was a genuine concern for the officer in the first programme

Call it morbid curiosity, but what’s the episode that no one can seem to watch? Not seen this programme in a while, are these repeats?

It's not the series in the thread title.

It's a new series: 'Undercover Police: Hunting Paedophiles'
Mondays C4, repeats on 4Seven.

Epic thread drift makes thread pointless.

Was going to give '24 hours in Police Custody' a try having heard lots of good stuff about it...

It seems like it's been removed/unavailable from ALL platforms - what's going on?

I feel sorry for his family, having everyone they know watching this. This guy thought it was worth the risk, jeopardising his job, home life, everything.

It’s still an income.

joke sentence for Sweeney (the grey fleece man)

Also the law around getting access to data is a sham. If the social media companies can operate in the UK (and presumably earn income in the UK), how can they be outside the UK law. This is a massive loophole.

Some of the sentences have been a joke.

Any judge who is consistently lenient on paedophiles should be looked into.

What about the other accusations on Sweeney's record? It didn't say if they had been dealt with, or did I miss a bit?

Even for the one case he should be in jail. Earlier suspicions and accusations doesn't make it sound like the isolated incident the court was told.

I think the other ones had lack of evidence and I guess you can't get tried twice under double jeopardy?
