24 Hours in Police Custody: Ch4
Discussion
Just watched this. That sentence was crazy. There must have been more to it as suggested a few posts back.
Cool starry bra for you.
Disgruntled bricky on one of my schemes decided to visit my site on a weekend.
Having texted various threats to our site manager on the Friday night, he used the whatsapp group chat he uses for his various squads to round up his troops for the visit and openly discussed what he intended to do.
Unfortunately for him, one of 'our' labourers was in the group chat and screen shot the messages.
He and his pals then decided to drive a large dumper through several of my partially built houses causing c.£300k worth of criminal damage.
That was 9 months ago and after police phone checks put his phone on our site at the time of the damage, there is still an active warrant out for his arrest.
Nobody's quite got around to bothering to arrest him yet though, let alone fly to Ireland to investigate it. This was a violent act resulting on an insurance claim larger than the one in this episode.
And the doctor got 13 years. FFS.
Sorry, rant over.

Not really.
Simply comparing someone who fraudulently claimed £250k of insurance sparking an international investigation resulting in a 13 year sentence vs somebody doing £300k of criminal damage and the police not being bothered to pick him up 20 miles away.
Seems wholly in keeping with the broader thread discussions about the extent of police investigations and lack of consistency over sentencing. But as you were

I think someone suggested covid will have screwed up their filming. It’s also maybe hard to find an episode where whoever the victim is wants to take part, the perp decides to ignore every solicitors advice of say no comment and there is some intrigue. S10 E04 · Til Death Do Us Part

Having been at a place of work that have asked if people didn’t mind similar filming, the vast majority don’t want to be involved. So it will also only be certain detectives who can appear.

Even watching the repeats of this episode, I'm still hoping the police woman shows him the photo of the detective stood next to to the fire place. Or first saying to him "We've found your fire place." To see the look on his face would have been
How dull can you be to send the Police a picture of your 'stolen' fireplace taken 3 months after it was 'stolen' , on the same device the Police know you have, complete with GPS co-ordinates of where it actually is!eccles said:

I wonder why they aren't streamed anywhere.
Always found that odd. You can get a lot on daily motion. Yes, I enjoyed watching this episode again. My only comment to add is that I thought the police woman doing the interviews was utterly hopeless. She wasn't able to put him under any pressure what so ever, in fact he seemed to have the upper hand even when lying through his teeth and forcing her to apologies at one point. I think an experienced police offer would have been able to extract a confession, just by showing him the damming evidence staked up against him and suggesting a confession with regret is likely to be seen more sympathetically by the courts.

Hubris. He genuinely thinks he is, was, such an upstanding member of the community that he would never be questioned
Blinkered intelligence...... some people can be extremely intelligent on ther subject but not be street wise with common sense....Did he not think that the police would suspect that he had been targeted by specialist antique burglars. They would have to be a highly organised likely intentional group to target his fireplace and naff candelabras and likely stolen to order. But his specialist burglars got in by breaking the wrong part of a sash window that meant they wouldn’t even have been able to get in open…
Him pretending to be overcome with emotion at the sight of a pair of wall lights that the police woman showed him the pictures of. I was waiting for her to flick the pages of the other items and him becoming more distressed with the sight of each antique.
His solicitor couldn't have looked more disinterested.
Also, how the police/Garda went to the Ireland property in plain cars to protect their privacy of the parents and it ended up being plastered all over the Irish Times.

Remember it would be edited for what makes the best TV. Seventyseven7 said:
Bit of an odd statement. This show is 10 seasons old, with on average over 6 episodes a season....
The format has changed drastically from my recollection although this series was good and closer to earlier ones. When it first aired it was literally the 24hrs between arrest and extension or charge decision. I stopped watching the last few series when it got a bit silly but his one was good. CRA1G said:

I hoped they'd have shown him the picture of the detective dude posing by the fire place. That would have been great!
