After giving up on several episodes through boredom, I now just delete episodes of Dead Ringers without bothering to listen to them when they get downloaded on the Friday Night Comedy Podcast. My main issue is I don't have a clue who most of the people they're impersonating are.

I agree The Now Show and News Quiz have gone down hill though, Miles Jupp was good but I find Nish Kumar a bit annoying.
I don't think you were the only one. I'm fairly sure that's why every single "Impression" started off with the Impressionist casually introducing himself/herself.

They did, even Ed Milliband, who was very recognisable.

The Queen impression was terrible.

There was one sketch about actors working in a supermarket that fell flat. They named the actor, but I didn't have a clue who they were.

If you are disenchanted with the radio comedy and have a spare eleven hours, David Mitchell reads his own book 'Back Story'

As you would expect from an educated erudite chap it's thoughtful, well observed and entertaining.

It's on YT in two hefty chunks.

As far as I can tell there is currently a new series of Fags, Mags and Bags on, and it is as funny as ever.

I love Sanjay's insults: "you pure french travel plug when on holiday in America".

Agreed, this has become one of my favourites a gentle and funny situation comedy which was originally hidden away on BBC Radio Wales.

The pair of them are as funny as knob cancer; bring back Jupp or do a HIGNFY and rotate whoever they can tempt with an appearance fee. Reg Hunter or Rich Hall for preference, but a rotation could/should give us a smattering of new blood.
I thought the bbc missed a chance to replace jupp with simon evans, a shrewd, smart dude with nice line in droll sarcasm.

He's not left-wing and is therefore not acceptable.

His Englishman/Welshman/Pakistani (IIRC) baby mixup gag is traditional/offensive/very funny*. It's on the tub of U.
*YMMV

Have to agree with you, sounded like to blokes trying to be funny/clever switched it off after 10 minutes. I don't know along with the crap Archers churn out looks like the BBC have lost the plot

I was sceptical when I heard the premise, but I thought that it was good in parts.

I like Marian Keyes. I thouht it was fun, and a bit Sedaris-esque; which is never a bad thing.
