Really enjoyed it, and good to know there's an Xmas special. I think the bit with Sheila at the pub was typical - quite unexpected, but it just needed a few words and you suddenly got a real insight. I really hope it wins some awards, it was a gem of a series.

Interesting dilemma, as a creative product it's something he can be very proud of. I reckon it's worth folks dropping an email to the Beeb saying how much they enjoyed it, only takes 5 mins and might make a difference.
the bbc have offered him another series, it is up to M.C.

Just finished series 2 (2.32am). I only wanted to watch one, but couldnt stop watching. Incredible characters, incredible writing. That HAS to win some awards. Perfectly timed humour that is absolutely spot on (Im sure each hobby group has the same dynamic). I really hope there is a third series, its rare that I really get into a program so much.

Done just that!

What a pitch perfect antidote to some of the dross that is on the TV at the moment....

I love that crazy music that Sheila (button man's wife) was listening to in episode#3 biggrin I want a copy!
(at the time of original broadcast in 2014) I contacted 'the show' and found out who'd made this music, and although they told me who'd done it, it wasn't available online at the time.

Just done another check biggrinhttps://edwardgrobinson.bandcamp.com/album/detecto...

This is the type of show that the iPlayer really helps. In pre-iPlayer days only a few people would have seen it and their recommendations to friends and family might have yielded a few extra viewers. Now it's so easy to see these shows without having to worry about being in the right place at the right time (on your sofa at 10pm) and I'm sure they great much better figures because of it.

Beautiful show, beautifully acted.

I would love it if in Season Three Andy is back from Africa, now an experienced archaeologist working for the local museum trying to get away from his metal detecting past, but goes out with Lance for old time's sake and finds himself caught up in the hunt for the Saxon ship burial...

This is as good as Fawlty Towers/Dads Army IMO. I've just watched the last five episodes in five evenings. The writing is amazing, the camera work, faultless, acting perfect.....Love it.

Or Lance goes over to stay for 2 weeks and takes his daughter, and that young lass turns up too, and also some of the other regulars characters appear randomly but we also get some oddball locals, school Volunteers dr's etc. They already filmed bluestone 42 in south Africa so couldn't be too hard to arrange.
Andy trying to hide the fact that hes a detectorist, but one of them find evidence of something significant.

Bugger I didn't realise there had been a 2nd series and the 1st three episodes aren't on iplayer any more. I'll have to keep an eye out for repeats.
