Was there an explanation I missed ? I know she lives on a boat and he gets sea sick.

She was the one who fixed the TR7 head gasket in the last series and used as a plot device - when Lance turned the curse around he made progress with her, before that he made a prat of himself.

Found myself looking at detectors of late.
Go for it. Knowing you are the first person to touch something that has been lost for for hundreds of years gives you a real connection to the past that you don't get any other way.

I reckon the 2 coins that Hugh found were the two coins that were ploughed up by the tractor in the scene you are talking about.
No I don't think so - that's Andy & Lance's patch. (I'm assuming that was Bishop's farm)
Plus it was mentioned that they were Victorian coins.

I reckon they find something of historical importance, which puts a stop to the solar panels being erected, leaving it to finish on a nice happy ending - which is just how this show should end.

Love this show, it's my fave Britcom.
What other current sitcoms have the same laid-back loving vibe?
I'd say (none a complete match nor current):
Early Doors
We Could Be Heroes (some of the characters, Pat Mullins in particular)
The Trip
Saxondale
Worth a look up if you like dry stuff.
Early doors - yes
Open all hours?
I’d also say - last of the summer wine for relaxed content (obviously it was ‘of its time)
I love Early Doors, one of the best. Took a look at Heroes, doesn't look like my cup of tea, I do recall Saxondale...erm, thought it was OK>
Cannot stand the welsh bloke so I don't watch the trip
As a wee child I enjoyed OAH and LOTSW. I was wondering if there was anything current.
THere was something called Moving Story and All Quiet on the Preston Front, but they were more 60 minute dramdies.

I guess there's not then...tough to think of another britcom with the same style.

What's happened to Rachel Stirling? Apart from her (very distinctive) voice, she seemed like a different person.

Great cameo by her Mum, too.

A lovely way to spend 30 minutes.
Longer hair, and looking slightly slimmer in the face I think - she didnt have much of part in last night though.

Moved to Botswana, yet to discover why they are all back. Quit her job before they left, move was always positioned as a big risk. Sure it will become clear, dialogue is subtly written to tell the story.

Yes, that makes a bit more sense.

I agree, hopefully and I think i read an interview with Crook prior to this series starting that essentially all the loose bits do get tied up. It should end as you say, a happy ending all round.

What about Simon and Garfunkel, seemed odd without them. HELLO THERE.

I got goosebumps during the scene with the trees changing and the magpie song.

Re the whistle that Andy found - Mackenzie Crook found it for real whilst detecting and thought he would include it in the show.

He and Toby Jones were on Radio 4 'Front Row' earleir this week discussing this and the detectoring...MC has his switched on during filming and is doing it for real'ish, whilst TJ hasn't a clue.

MC found some Roman gold recently is awaiting 'treasure status' or whatever they call it to see if he can get a payout!

Yep, he wrote an article in 'The Searcher' about it.

Great to have it back, and on strong form too.

What happened to Lance's lottery win that was mentioned in S1 I think? Seems like it would help with his current predicament...
