Can't recall which series it was in, but it's a classic moment. Always loved the Sheila character, the 80's hairdo, the make up, even her choice of drink when they were in the pub. Brilliant stuff!

after reading about the series on here we watched every episode over two evenings
the first ended at 01:45am, such a good show.
I have a metal detector but have not used it for many years, I recall finding musket balls and various small
pieces all in fields near Lavenham in Suffolk.

Late to this party... just binged all 3 series and the special.
Absolutely brilliant, gutted there wasn’t more series made that I missed.
Lovely writing, good characters well acted. Funny without the need to be over the top.
It could easily carry on for another series, but like many great shows would probably benefit from being left where it was and appreciated as it was.

Missed this first time round and just finished binge watching all 3 series over the past few evenings.
What a wonderfully written and acted show. It's subtle, heartwarming, touching comedy at its very best..
I envy those who've not yet seen it.

I live where Detectorists is set - near Danbury (Danebury). It's nice to see Essex represented in a more accurate manner rather than the usual TOWIE crap.
Some of it was also filmed in Upminster where I grew up and used to play as a kid. The memories of that only added to the joy of the programme.
Toni's canal boat is still moored at Paper Mill Lock in Little Baddow.
