That was a good show. I'm a bike racing fan, F1 just isn't my thing. Having said that the old cars were pretty cool, especially the engines. Jenson Button came across rather well, much like David Coulhard did in the bike vs car show a few years ago. That Chandhok bloke was a bit supercilious though, there is a difference between a simulator and a real car regardless of the realism.

The six wheeled car was amazing, shame it never really saw the light of day.

That sim looked a trifle better than F1 2018! But what a good programme.... he really enjoyed that didn’t he!

The section with Guy firing questions at the engine builder was hilarious. Great program.

Like Macaulay Culkin to John Candy in Uncle Buck.

I rly enjoyed that if I’m honest and it shows how well an f1 driver jb is as well, just rocks up gets in a car he’s never driven and able to crack on

Interesting show as usual, could have done with more on the cars and less driver training though.

Wasn't exactly a fair comparison putting the pro driver in the full ground effect FW08B and the rookie in the bastardised FW08C which was basically the same chassis without the aero. There was always going to be a huge gap in performance.

Really enjoyed it, nice to hear a proper V8 again.

Over 500bhp as well, I never realised they made that much grunt.

Don't know who the commentator was but he seemed to have escaped from '24 hours in A&E' - awful!

Guy Martin irritates me beyond belief usually, but he was good in this as was Jenson. Why they chose a circuit in Wales was odd because the weather is so unreliable. Why not Thruxton, Castle Combe, or Brands Hatch? Excellent programme nevertheless. It was hard to imagine how they would fill ninety minutes without the usual waffle, but it simply flew by.

Yup, that would be my main criticism aswell.

I thought the premise of the show was to find out if guy could become 'competitive' in a short period of time and then they put the professional in a faster car?

JB could maybe have done the same thing had the cars been identical, but that's besides the point.

I noticed when they brought the car in for a check-over after its warm-up, and the techs were working on the engine, that the intake blanking plugs kept appearing and disappearing between shots!

Can't just of been me that picked up on the fact that Stroll allegedly did a 1.22.4 around Melbourne according to the data engineer - that'd have put him 7th on the grid for this year's GP...

Thruxton is right out - they won't even let me take the Sagaris out on there for a track day due to their ridiculous noise limits. The rare track days that are allowed to happen have a noise limit of 90dB, despite Thruxton being a working airport.

Combe is probably too twisty for an F1 car due to the "new" chicanes.

Thruxton must have 'noisy days' or it would make it impractical as a business. I agree about noise levels as I cannot take my Westfield there (98dB(A)) or to Goodwood for the same reason. Combe is twisty but at least it's more likely to be dry and Guy wasn't really cracking on in his early outings - wet or not.
