Tombstone and Wyatt Earp - 1993/1994.

Tombstone is far superior IMO.
'Far' superior? I like it.
Earp was on a few weeks ago, watched it and it made me reread on the Vendetta trail. Nice story.

THis is not synchronacity, but close, the timeline does propose the possibility of...homage.
Just watched The Machine on sony movies, and it reminded me of Ex Machina. A quick check shows that Ex Machina started filming a short while after The Machine was released... biggrin

I think this is exactly what happened with 'The Reckoning' from 1970, which is worth a viewing, and the much more famous 'Get Carter' from 1971. Both feature "wronged men" who have returned to their grimy, Northern, working class hometowns after close relatives have died suspiciously. Both men exact retribution by doing what a man's gotta do, while taking time out to bed local women along the way. The main difference is that Nicol Williamson in 'The Reckoning' is a nerdy looking business executive, admittedly one who would sell his sister to get to the top of the corporate tree, while Michael Caine's Carter is already from a criminal background. Spoiler: One of the two men goes on to thrive in his chosen career, and if you've seen the ending of Get Carter, you'll know what I mean.
I like Nicol Williamson, I fancy watching 'The Reckoning.'

I was going to say ET and 'Mac and Me', but now I've looked it up it seems the latter actually came a few years later and is merely a very poor imitation. Not many people seem to remember that one, but I can remember it from my childhood! Seemed to be sponsored by McDonalds!
Wasn't there a film about a troll and a bloke in NYC that was vaguely similar too?
ANyhoo, Mac and Me is considered of of the worst films according to wiki. biggrin Never seen it but I have seen the ongoing 16 year joke that Paul Rudd keeps playing on COnan O'Brien.
