If anyone is an IPSE member their Perkbox has some good offers. If you don't fancy the bother of cancelling and then signing up again you can at least use those to renegotiate a better deal.
It's for new customers only? Not sure how that helps? Do you just mean as something to use as a benchmark for negotiation?
Yes, although I called up ready to cancel and let my better half sign up to a new contract if needed.

I’d love Sky Q but they couldn’t make it work in my house. There’s a big inglenook fireplace between the 2 rooms I wanted the boxes in. I’ll try again when they get it all working on Broadband.
Might just need a wifi signal booster ? I guess I find out this week when the engineer comes to fit it...
The engineer tried a booster but no good. It looks like the only way is to run a cable.

Yeah they did say to me it may need to be hardwired...

My wife just spoke with the "Values team":

Sky Entertainment: £20
HD: £5
Kids: £5
Box Sets: £5
F1 HD: £14
Multiroom: £6 for 6 months

Still doesn't sound a great loyalty reward to me.
Not heard a thing from Sky since this last update so it looks like we are leaving early next week.
Not sure why but Sky didn't even attempt to keep up with an offer to stay and our service disconnected earlier this week. I've just signed up as a new customer through my work scheme, so am pretty happy with the deal I'll be getting once it's installed next week.

Quick question for those that have Sky Q - I know the dish gets replaced but do they/should they replace the cables running from the dish to the box? Mine has some tricky routing so just wondering if I'll need to rip up what I have and replace it?

Nope, no new wiring when I had it fitted, it's not even a new dish, just a new LNB.

Ok, thanks for confirming.

My next door neighbour had a new dished fitted when he got Sky Q, although the old one was pretty rusty so was probably no longer fit for purpose!

They may swap the dish - depends on the age/ condition of it. Cables are only changed if there's a problem.

When they tried to install Q at mine they would have installed a new dish, apparently the old one wouldn’t work with Q. As it happened the couldn’t do the installation anyway as they couldn’t get a signal between the 2 rooms where I have boxes. I looking at having Ethernet sockets installed so we can try again.

I just spent about 45 minutes on the phone to Sky to ask about Q boxes.

As I posted much earlier in the thread when the engineer arrived last year to install Q he was unable to get a signal between the 2 rooms where I wanted the boxes. There’s a brick wall and an inglenook fireplace blocking the signal. My question was simply will the system work if I install Ethernet sockets so the boxes can be hard wired? Apparently this should work but nobody seemed 100% sure.

I think I’ll get the Ethernet cables put in anyway, at least I can boost the WiFi which isn’t great at the moment and I’ll have the option of other non Sky internet tv.

Had our engineer out. All he did was drill out and hard wire the main box to the bedroom. All works perfectly.

I think that’s right. My problem is that it’s about 40 feet between where I need the boxes and there’s a brick wall and inglenook between them. I need the wires installed with a lot of care.

Had a bit of a result yesterday, phoned up to do my annual cancellation and they’ve rolled over my deal for another year.

£63 + some pence for everything, q multi room, phone and broadband.

Hopefully others are as lucky.

We just went outside and along the damp course with black so it was hidden. Must say our engineer took a great deal of care to make sure it was all hidden.

Annual cancellation laugh Do you have to threaten with any real intent? Or is it as simple as saying, "hi I'd like to leave ...as I have done every previous year"

You could try powerline networking which wouldn't require any drilling, just a pair of plugs that go into your mains sockets.

The downside is that depending on the way your house is wired, it might not work at all (if there are different circuits used for different areas of the house where you have the plugs). However, it will work great in most regular houses where the wall sockets will be on the same circuit.

Knocked Sky on the head just after Christmas after about 20 years. Didn’t get any persuasive offers on the way out.
Expected to go back in using my name instead of Mrs but frankly we aren’t going to bother now.

I still have BT Sport and Mrs uses Netflix and Amazon to watch films.

If BT got F1 and Golf I’d be in Hog Heaven.

Both Sky's major draws and Sky have an exclusive on the F1 until the end of 2024. The PGA Tour is in the third year of a seven year deal. There's some of the machinations and complications of all the deals here: https://www.nationalclubgolfer.com/news/sky-sports...

Just wanted to let you know that signing up in a partner's name and different bank account does indeed qualify you as a "new customer". I'm now watching my new 2TB Sky Q box with all the channels including multi-room/mini-box for £57 per month and £20 installation fee.
