I mean, it's not like a review of a piece of art (entertainment) is a product in itself... No. No it isn't, Bradshaw. You jumped up prick.
It's easy enough to avoid reviews (although I will sometimes seek them out afterwards). The problem I have is trying to avoid trailers, which include more or less every plot point. Taking Civil War as an example, if i hadn't seen the trailer, I would have expected the conflict to be over once Tony Stark knew that the Winter Soldier was not behind the terrorist bombing. But I'd seen the battle with Iron Man vs Cap and the winter soldier, so instead of being supprised, I was expecting it.
I know they have to make the trailers exciting to get big opening weekend ticket sales, but it makes the film less enjoyable for the punter.
Having said that, I liked it a lot. It's up there with the best of the MCU films. I believed in the motivations behind the conflict (unlike another recent superhero blockbuster I could mention). They gave us fans the action sequences we want. Then they had the good sense to reduce the scale of the final battle, for more emotional impact.
As with the previous Captain America film (which broke SHIELD), the events will change the MCU. Half of the Avengers are now criminals, and any superhero activity is probably going to fall foul of the new U.N. 'accords'.
I know they have to make the trailers exciting to get big opening weekend ticket sales, but it makes the film less enjoyable for the punter.

Enjoyed it, some nice fighting scenes towards the end, and of course some good use of comedy sidekicks to break the film up - Spider-Man should be good to watch when that comes out.
However as someone said on a previous page, I kind of forgot most of it by the time I was out of the cinema.
I'm not a superfan, so am assuming that the story will be continued through further marvel films?

It's really "Avengers: Civil War", which is what I've been calling it. I like the fact that they now feel free to really blur the boundaries between the titles. There are probably contractual obligations that mean if the title is 'Avengers' then it must include Thor and Hulk. SpudLink said:

I believe there are restrictions on the use of Hulk (still owned by Universal), so probably a mess of rights and stuff going on in the background which would have been compounded by the Spiderman/Sony situation in this film. Hulk also would have unbalanced the fight by quite some distance.
Watched it last night, prefer the Avengers format if I am honest. Capn america is just a bit too worthy, and the film is best when Tony and the Cap are on screen together in dialogue, not fighting.
Fight at the airport though is worth the ticket price. Good old fashioned set piece dust up with great action and some funny lines.

thing is though isn't the Cap someone we all aspire to be? The thing that bugs me about the Civil war storyline is that the two main characters seem to have picked the wrong sides. I would have imagined it would be the straight laced Army raised Captain who would be all for government control of superheroes and the rather maverick Iron Man who'd be against.
I realise CA's view of government control may have been soured by the events in Winter Soldier but at the end of the day he is a true blue American hero and about as straight laced as they come. I just don't seem him turning against his own government on this one and I don't see Iron Man opting to give the government MORE control as he has proven time and again that he doesn't want the IM technology to fall into their hands. Just seems a bit ar*se about face to me on which side of the line they fall on. Also would you really try to kill your mate over a difference in political views? The plot just seems a bit of a stretch in order to get people who wouldn't normally be in conflict to fight.

I thought Caps motivation seemed ropey too, But I guess he’s been friends with Bucky for a lifetime, He’s only known Stark a few year. Plus the fact that Stark is a really flawed character. Governments come and go but the ideals that Cap adheres to go beyond that. Will enjoy watching it again as it comes out on DVD.
When comparing this to BvS, let us not forget that the first Cap America film is possibly the worst of the Marvel movies (maybe tied with Iron Man 3) and it is still better than BvS. This is far superior.
