Am I right in thinking that this end to the Sony/MCU deal, means there is no more MCU in Spider-Man and no more Spider-Man in MCU? That's it, we're back to 5 years ago and neither party can reference the other?

I don't want to be the writers involved with that particular headache, in both companies!
Sony Venomverse? Yeah I know the Venom movie has the origin without Spiderman involved but it could be something to write into Venom 2 (which is happening)

Not sure what the plan is for Venom 2, but I can imagine they will setup a clash with Spider-Man for a later film, I doubt he would feature though.

To be fair, Spider-Man has a good back-catalogue of villains, so Sony have plenty they can work with. But for the four or five films we've had Tom Holland Spider-Man in, he's been built up as a member of the MCU and he exists within that world. If they are to completely split, then it will be a tricky transition.

tricky indeed, because they won't be able to mention Stark, or the suit situation, or what has happened to get him to that point...it might be Holland but playing in essence, a different Peter Parker.

Anyone want to place bets on the end credit scene of Black Widow being Cap putting the soul stone back and her coming back from the dead?

With complete memory loss, obviously.

Quick question: why isn’t Venom included in the list of films leading up to Endgame? I’ve started rewatching them from the first Iron Man (doing them in release order) and was wondering where, if at all, Venom fits in.

In case you were wondering I’m trying for a film a day and it’s Thor tonight. It’s funny what you pick up watching them again that you didn’t realise at the time but all fits together having seen them all.

Venom was Sony on their own. They own the Venom character not Marvel. Spidey was only in mcu because of a specific deal between Marvel and Sony.

It's funny, there were theories only a few days ago how Venom was going to be worked into the MCU via THor4, and then whoosh, Spidey is gone from the MCU....apparently....still not sure if it's all flim-flam.

I think spidey will be back. Sony and Marvel are both being greedy and Disney said bks to you so Sony leaked it to create a tonne of fan outrage to pressure Disney into relenting.

and then sony stocks dropped and then there was another 'leak' which resolved it and then there seems to be Feige saying bye bye.
I'm gonna keep an open mind, but I wouldn't be surprised if nearer to the thing, we find out SPidey 3 is in the mcu.

Another question: what happened to Captain America in Endgame? We know he goes back to replace the infinity stones and chooses to stay there and live out his life with Peggy, but what happened to the ‘other’ Cap, the one who was already there?

As an aside, and currently up to GotG2, they really do knit together well when viewed a day or two apart rather than months (or even years). One small spot though: at the end of (I think) IM2 during the end credit scene we see Coulson looking over the lip of of a crater and phoning Nick Fury telling him they’d discovered the location of Thor’s hammer. The location is deserted. Yet in Thor when we see the very same scene during the film, he says the same line while watching all the locals trying to move the hammer. So in an end scene the location’s deserted, in the following film the same scene is crowded with locals.

The ‘other’ was buried in the ice until about 2009, and after that he was living as Captain America. So ‘our’ version could have lived quietly as Steve Rogers all those years. Maybe doing a bit of quiet superheroing behind the scenes, just not in costume.

Yeah, the post credit scenes don’t always tie up as neatly as you’d hope. The MCU do allow themselves a bit of license to break the continuity where they see fit.

Possible Disney+ series right there....

A interesting catch. I'd have to rewatch, but Phil does have a great sense of humour. Rewatching Avengers Assemble last week, he was a great character.

On the spidey thing, these guys called Spidey leaving he MCU is Venom was a hit...

Two films. Sequel to Far From Home produced by Fiege, and one Marvel Studios film (so presumably either a crossover into an already announced Phase 4 movie or an as yet unannounced ensemble movie).

Watched a few vids of the usual suspects; Emergency Awesome, den lf nerds, midnight's edge, mr h.
Most are just saying what's happened, I think Beyond the Trailer has the best vid, it has more business aspect to explaining a probable route of this deal happening. ALso, possibly Spider-Man could be a character to jump between franchises? Star Wars was the gamchanger?
Anyhoo the best thing is getting a payoff to the end credit scene.

So I've been watching this youtubers history of the mcu, he make great lil animations to go along with a brief timeline that covers the start till the Endgame. This is just one part but it's pretty cool when all the different pieces are patched together
