It makes for a very disjointed narrative and you are never sure if what you are seeing is real or just his conception of reality.
Which is the part of a theory doing the rounds that...

Elliot is in a mental asylum, or in prison. His routine (especially eating), regular basketball games, setup of his bedroom and the way he met with Gideon all seem to 'fit'. The guy he met at at the basketball game (who knew who he is) could be his counselor.

Interestingly enough, those in the tech industry have been raving about the recent season and it's relativity to modern times. I'm enjoying it, but it's a little 'mixed up' right now, but I suspect that's the point.

Yes, the theory you expounded is what I'm dreading. I hate the 'it was all in the characters head' trope.

That said, I like the exposition of the scam that is the 'financial system' and the hacking bits. Those are interesting and relevant.

I thought it picked up - I quite enjoyed it.

However, what really helped was giving Amazon's X-Ray function a try. If you pause the video stream (on a Fire TV device) you can pull up info on actors in the scene, plot synopsis etc. It really helps if you are struggling to follow a complex show or one that you haven't watched for a while. Definitely useful for this show.

So things are gradually starting to happen.

There really is a lot of background detail to keep track of too.

Thought the use of this https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uO4RfLw35is was quite smart, especially if you know what the lyrics are.

Ok, I guess I'm a hypocrite - I've kept watching and Ep5 is really good. S2 had a slow start, but it's really building up pace now!

I guess the slow start put people off but seems to be solidly back on track now.

I suspect this is what people were really after but it did need the slow build up to set up everything for what just happened. Wouldn't be half as effective without it.

Definitely getting good now. I loved season 1 thought season 2 was seriously underwhelming however ep5 and it's cranking up the drama.

Ep5 has shaken thing up a bit! For those who've seen it...

The way they shot the shootout was excellent, IMO - very easy to do the wide shot to get all the action, but hanging back in that closeup on Dom really added to the tension.

Watched the first episode last night thanks to it getting a mention on here, and enjoyed it. Not read the whole thread to avoid spoilers but my first thought was it's a bit Fight Club and then I notice comments in the thread along the same lines so I guess it's going to go the way I expect.

Episode 5 I got very confused at the start as it was a flashback.

The end was AMAZING!

Yes, it's back to actually having a plot and featuring some real-life stuff going on rather than being completely rambling, surreal and abstract.

Let's hope this marks a trend in the storytelling.

Amen to that, her fap scene was rather eyebrow raising!

So do we think he's actually in a mental hospital/prison?
No interaction with "mother," eating in weird ass canteen every day with same young lad, needed to help Ray in order to get to a computer, meeting people in that same room at the same table, Ray randomly receiving Elliot's diary from a church group etc etc...
Ray is actually an employee of this facility hence the office and why he could pull Elliot out of his "house" to give him a beating.

Silk road rip off was depressing since it's basically a legit thing in real life.

Love this show. Also Stephanie Corneliussen is one of the most beautiful women on the planet.

I think this is the case. The more I watch the more I think that the silk road rip off might just be the internal system for medication or patient information and perhaps when he got beaten up he was just being restrained.

Major spoilers for episode 6...

Seems all the rumours were true - he in in prison and the whole thing was an illusion. This is mostly being lambasted as a bad turning point by online reviews; for me, it's more about where they go with it

While I'm still enjoying S2, I don't look forward to it like I did S1, there's just nothing to grab me, no "what will happen next". The best thing about this season as mentioned above is Dom, be interesting to see how she develops.

And why is Angela being so weird this season? She's turning into female Elliot with odd social interactions.

You should put those spoilers in spoiler tags for anyone who hasn't seen it.

I'm left thinking wtf after ep6. There are definitely strong and weak episodes in this season, not continually strong like season 1 imo.
