Westworld (NO SPOILERS)
Discussion
Presumably HBO had commissioned a third series before they realised how utterly st the second one would be.
HBO Exec: Yeah, I know we green lit a third season, but is there any chance you could make it about something completely different and not, you know, st?
WW Writers: Completely different? Sure, we can do that. Not st? Hmmmm. Give us a fourth season, and then we'll tell you.

Havent watched series 2 yet as we were in NZ for a few months BUT have it all downloaded.......am I going to be disappointed??
Make your own mind up, of course - but yes. Perhaps 3 or 4 episodes were decent but most have found it incomprehensible and not well written. Complete contrast to S1.mikal83 said:

It depends how 'into' it you are. I think watching it with a weekly gap gave a better experience as you could break down each episode and all of the hints etc. I loved it mikal83 said:

I thought it was brilliant, really moved things on and set the scene for a full-on SciFi story. It pretty much paid off on everything that they had set up.When you see the kind of technology present in WestWorld then you realise that the implications for the World at large would be massive and simply can't be ignored. There was a limit to how far they could have taken the 'Wild West' plots.
The trailer for S3 looks fantastic, can't wait.

Sir (or indeed, madam!) your opinion is perfectly valid although was very much in the minority during the time S2 was being aired. Never seen so much bitterness addressed at a tv prog after so much praise (ie for S1). I very much hope S3 gets back on track but the trailer does nothing for me. S1 was the best TV I've seen in years, I loved almost every second of it.When you see the kind of technology present in WestWorld then you realise that the implications for the World at large would be massive and simply can't be ignored. They pretty much paid off all the questions/mysteries raised from S1 and throughout the course of S2 in a satisfying way. It's clear lots of people just wanted more 'Wild West' stories but realistically how far can you take adventures in a sci-fi Western theme park? The kind of tech that we saw being used to create the hosts just raised so many questions about the wider WW Universe that needed to be explored and they started to do that in S2 and seem to be continuing in S3.

While I did love the wild west stuff, I was interested to see what they'd do after S1. Unfortunately with all the fan boy guessing the plots that went on in S1 it just seemed they tied themselves in knots to foil that in S2, without making a coherent plot. Too much of it just seemed to make little sense or seem like a pointless filler (the Samurai World episode was particularly disappointing in that regard). But it must have worked for some, otherwise it wouldn't have been brought back at all! It's clear lots of people just wanted more 'Wild West' stories but realistically how far can you take adventures in a sci-fi Western theme park? Given that the set burned down in Agoura in November, I wouldn't be surprised if they move away from the wild west setting quite heavily next season.
I looked this up as I hadn't heard about it - not all the sets burned. It wasn't the "Sweetwater" sets that burned down as those scenes were filmed elsewhere. Gassing Station | TV, Film, Video Streaming & Radio | Top of Page | What's New | My Stuff
