Westworld (NO SPOILERS)

I remember thinking this about Westworld season 2. It seemed to be more about "let's make sure nobody guesses the plot this time" than kaking a coherent plot.
Yes, I agree with this although I think this time around they seem to have that formula worked out better IMO.marksx said:
I may be setting myself up to fail here, but it seems things are a little easier to understand this season. Not quite as convoluted as before.
First 2 or 3 I really needed a YT hint or 2 from a channel that breaks down the episodes. But I agree, it does seem easier on the brain this time.I'm up to Ep 6 and think it's possibly the strongest season since the 1st. But I've no idea where people are up to and can't be arsed using spoiler tags the whole time so only really posted when others have. Got Ep 7 to watch - might save until the last one is out and I can watch both together.
I've quite enjoyed this 4th season, having watched the S04 finale today.
Quite a bit I need to think back on from S02 and S03 which is touched on as S04 draws to a close.
I do have mixed feelings and thoughts on the final few moments of the episode, but I'll wait until a few others have seen it before discussing it.

I've watched the ending now and I think it all comes down to the Star Trek transporter question...
When the Trekers are beamed up/down, is the reconstructed person the one that was deconstructed or a copy?
In series 3, if Dolores read all of the "books" pertaining to the park's guests over the years, and if she managed to upload those into Rehoboam as she "died", and if Rehoboam managed to "park" that data somewhere before it was blown up, then I guess Dolores plan for humanity is to recreate everyone in the sublime, or a gated-off version of it that keeps them separated from the hosts.
So, if that's the essential nature of the final series, what can be said of those "guests" as they are brought to life? Are they actually the original guests or are they copies?
Even Caleb swing both ways in this regard. His fatalistic viewpoint accepts he's not the OG but he also knows what he feels for his daughter.
Overall I think this series brought back some of the mystery of the first series although it's still a pale reflection of series 1. And this last episode fell a little flat for me, as though they ran out of enough exposition to feed us with without spoiling what will happen in series 5.

Oh yeah, and...
Dolores is going for another loop... so she will create a virtual Westworld and allow all the virtual guests to join on equal terms to the virtual hosts. This time around, they play for real and the winners get physical bodies, and get to live in the real world.
... or something...

There was something else I thought...
I don't like the way they killed off William. He was the last continuity to the near beginning of the story. They killed off Ford, Arnold, and even Dolores last series - and I'm still not sure how any of Dolores has survived because, despite what I previously wrote, Rehoboam killed her, and even if he absorbed all that she was, Maeve killed Rehoboam so where was he backed-up to?
Anyway, "copies" of characters aren't the same in terms of continuity. Those characters are lost to the story and it bugs me.
However, I do wonder whether Dolores will bring back William-OG in her virtual reality next series... as in Jimmi Simpson.
Also, Teddy killed himself so how did he end up in the sublime?

I'm assuming anyone who cares to read in here has watched it now - it's been on. Otherwise, maybe don't come in here.
I wondered that about Teddy too.
Enjoyed season 4...right up until the last episode. Hale gets brought back again. And becomes even more RoboHale. Yay.
And "Sorry dude, we are each other's cornerstones but actually yeah you're not here, I've been wandering around talking to myself for 90 minutes. Don't cry".
8 episodes of that which ultimately were meaningless as Dolores was all powerful and just had to remember that (and apparently not dead either). And despite being all nice, now she wants to play another game.
Well, thanks. I rather wish I hadn't invested in season 4 after that. The only good things were the way they dealt with Caleb, and seeing Westworld again. Otherwise it's just too messy now, too messy.
Ultimately the only ones who've had their balls crushed (as it were) are Hale and William, so I guess they're now gone and it's open for everyone else to come back next time. Assuming being shot in the headball isn't terminal, as they brought Hale back again. So that happening to anyone else is just another red herring.
Ultimately more than a bit disappointed with that ending.

Can anyone enlighten me as to what the point of all that was?
That's a little how I felt. S04 is the closest to S01 for enjoyment, but despite most of S04 being good that final few moments where it's confirmed that Dolores is going to just run one more loop and let the outcome decide itself doesn't quite fully satisfy.I'll watch S05 when it comes around, but I hope there's more to it than humans vs hosts in Westworld gunfights.
