There was something else I thought...
I don't like the way they killed off William. He was the last continuity to the near beginning of the story. They killed off Ford, Arnold, and even Dolores last series - and I'm still not sure how any of Dolores has survived because, despite what I previously wrote, Rehoboam killed her, and even if he absorbed all that she way, Maeve killed Rehoboam so where was he backed-up to?
Anyway, "copies" of characters aren't the same in terms of continuity. Those characters are lost to the story and it bugs me.
However, I do wonder whether Dolores will bring back William-OG in her virtual reality next series... as in Jimmi Simpson.
Also, Teddy killed himself so how did he end up in the sublime?
Dolores must've taken a copy of Teddy's code at some point, and simply placed Teddy v.xxxxx with her chosen mods in her simulation.I don't like the way they killed off William. All copies, created from various backups, as you mentioned earlier.

Can anyone enlighten me as to what the point of all that was?
That's a little how I felt. S04 is the closest to S01 for enjoyment, but despite most of S04 being good that final few moments where it's confirmed that Dolores is going to just run one more loop and let the outcome decide itself doesn't quite fully satisfy.I'll watch S05 when it comes around, but I hope there's more to it than humans vs hosts in Westworld gunfights.
Watched an analysis on YT which suggests EVERYONE will come back in S5, as Dolores has all their data, so can just recreate them all and they will exist in her simulation. And that she might just re-run everything in S1 to see if she can affect the outcome. Which could in theory therefore mean the reappearance of anyone in S1 coming back.
Their other theory was was that all 4 seasons were just a probability test run by Dolores, much like Bernard was doing running through scenarios in the Sublime. Not sure that would be a popular reveal though; 4 seasons of the equivalent of "it was all a dream".

Okay, get the crayons out for me being dim.......
I'd interpreted that Hale's sand box was the warped real world. Delores revealed to be part of the controls of this world.
The dam location where the servers are are part of said real world. But it can't be real world if it partly "unzips" to reveal something behind.
It seems nothing is real, everything virtual(With lairs upon lairs)? There are no real people/world left, never has been. Just a big mental loop sim?

People like to knock off the 'clever' trope of a revealing everything is a nested simulation, so seeing that again wouldn't ever come as a surprise once virtual worlds are in the mix. When The Thirteen Floor did it it was OK, or Virtual Nightmare, but it's a bit stale now. And certainly a 'it was all a dream' reveal of what went before would be a kick in the balls.
oh well - I'm finally watching the last few epis - I have to say it's more because I want to see what's going to happen rather than it being 'unmissable TV'. It's virtually as if the creators are trying to show how clever they are rather than concentrating on making something that is interesting, entertaining as well as glossy...

Pretty much what I said about season 2 and 3.kalexan273 said:
Just announced by HBO, not being renewed for season 5.
I think based on the viewing figures of the last series, that was inevitable.Liked s1, s2 was disappointing, gave up on s3 when the computer thing was in charge. Watched 5 mins of s4 and turned off.
I see there is a new series on Amazon being touted as from the producers/similar of west world.
That’s put me off more than encouraged me to watch it.
Those who were still watching at the end of s4 seemed to really enjoy it. Unfortunately there wasn’t very many of them.

Most of S4 was better than all of S3 (while not being a patch on S1) - although the last few minutes of S4 was poor. Can't say I'm sorry it's not coming back. Or surprised. I've got S1 on bluray - never bought the others. In hindsight, I think over time I can just forget the other seasons existed and treat S1 as a standalone piece of brilliance.Liked s1, s2 was disappointing, gave up on s3 when the computer thing was in charge. I'm really disappointed. I had hoped S5 might bring a stroke of genius to the table and round it all out properly.
But not all that surprised. Once they moved so far from S1 and Westworld itself, the show really lost its charm.
Agreed that it did - but the creators probably realised how stuck they might be if they kept to the one location. Although I think they could have made a better S2 "onsite" as it were and finished it with an escape into the wider world (without actually going there), leaving it to viewers' imagination. But not all that surprised. Once they moved so far from S1 and Westworld itself, the show really lost its charm.
And I lost track of how many Dolores's there were - that whole "kill them off/ingenious way to resurrect them" plot device ruins everything it touches. They should never have used it.
