Westworld (NO SPOILERS)
Discussion
I watched it last night but tired and wanting to sleep. A lot of the dialogue was muffled whether through the telly or the amp and it's obviously important to know what's being said. Going to watch it again today with the volume up full.
Sci Fi for a thinking person.
It did make me think that at a theme park like that I'd be more concerned about the other humans all having guns.

Enjoyed the first, hope it doesn't try to out clever itself, but will definitely watch again because I found the female head of security extremely attractive.
I couldn't remember where I recognised her from and then the OH pointed out that she was on Borgen which we also enjoyed.Watched it last night - definitely very good - although the pace was a little odd at first - as it just dropped you in the middle of it as it were...
I think I'll have to watch the original film - especially to see if there are any homages or nods to the original in there.
Great cast.
Still trying to work out when it's viewable in the UK - on Now TV - e.g. is it available before 9pm?? (a la GoT)

I did wonder how a guest was supposed to differentiate between other guests and hosts before he started a killing spree. I know the guns don't fire at other humans but what if he wanted to take a knife to host and attacked a guest by mistake? johndoe said:

Liked it a lot. I felt sorry for the hosts in parts (nearly included a spoiler) and working out who is a human and who is a robot is a challenge!
that was my wife's issue - really dumped in at the deep end combined with having little or no interest in sci-fi anyway..... I'll be watching future epi's alone popeyewhite said:
Started in the typical Abrams way: Slick but something's not quite right. Looks promising and the scenery is stunning. Soundgarden in the saloon was nice.
both of those did make me laugh... though I'm not sure if that 'pulled me out of the moment' so to speakI don't watch much to but have been looking forward to this since seeing trailers. Started a little slowly but I understand why the Groundhog Day thing was there as it illustrated how the place works..
Well scripted, great effects and wells acted with a "uh oh" twist in there too. I wish I was binge watching the whole thing after it had finished, to be honest. Looking forward to next week.

This was always unexplained in the movie, really bugged me! Particularly so in the Medieval and Roman World where it's just hand to hand combat and the robots are reliant on the visitors defending themselves (particularly the scene towards the end when the guy is fighting the Black Knight).ukaskew said:

Happy to see where this goes and if it does turn out to be good hopefully they'll go for quality over quantity.
ANd using those famous balsa wood chairs in the brawl.
I guess they would screen for proper nutters, since the holiday package is pretty inclusive. No Benidorm types here. Any robots would pull their punches, and tourists would be mostrly softy types wanting the thrill of adventure, but not the real thing. In the film, with the exception of the two protagonists (two regular stringy Joes), they all seem out of shape losers.
The issue of sword fighting in Roman/Medieval world would have me on edge though.
