Force Majeure on Netflix.

Family get caught in an avalanche and the husband legs it to save himself rather than protect the wife and kids. Did hold my interest for a while, with some great scenery and general skiing shots, but ultimately I found that I didn't really give a toss about their relationship troubles

5/10
Agree. Some funny / quirky moments and a nice undertone of unhappiness but I wouldn't recommend unless there was nothing else to watch.

Saw McLaren last night. Interesting, enjoyable, inspiring and sad. Would recommend. It's nowhere near the film Senna is but its taken from a different perspective. Worth watching.

Taped Highlander last SUnday, finally got around to watching it...well...
It was a lot more hokey/scholky/B movie than I remember it...but it was still fun. It was weird...some shots were beautifully thought out, while some looked like a telly programme, I can only guess some were the 2nd DA, or they had run out of budget. And a sword making explosions whilst hitting stone...I had forgotten that. Also, The great Frenchmen, Christope...about as much range as Ryan Gosling, best scene was with Clancy, obviously, in the church. Although I have to say, a lot niggled me, it felt like Clancy was told, 'be evil', and how did everyone know the plot? And that stuff with the deer, possible telepathy left out of the fin al edit?
I reckon a remake could fix all the niggles, keep it enigmatic still, but don't have some bullst prophecy that is never explained, have the immortals as a mutation, some crazy DNA issue which throws up every few generations, maybe in animals too. Self-replicating genes like the immortal jellyfish or lobster. Make the film smaller, like Logan, not yet again another bullst end of the world wkfest.

Also, the fight scenes, they were pretty all rubbish, nice shot, and some beautiful moves, but really really bad after seeing so many great fights on telly and the flicks.

Still like it though, and will watch it again, even with it's flaws.

Hunt for the Wilderpeople Another 'been meaning to watch it for ages' and it didn't disappoint; black Kiwi humour, great script, looked beautiful, and anything with a cameo from Rhys Darby is right up there (this also applied to What We Do In The Shadows).

Been annoying everyone last week, walking around saying "this is Ricky Bake-a, he steals stuff, kicks stuff, tags stuffs, sets fire to stuff..."

It's the simple things that amuse me...

North by Northwest. 10/10, still flawless after all these years & what an eye for a shot. I see where Roger Deakins got it from when he spices up the Coen brothers movies.

Black labrador - same venue as the little boy on the airbed. Spielberg was heartless. I mean, a lab of all dogs. Why not some sort of pesky runt like a chihuahua, or a yobs' dog? Everyone likes a lab.

I routinely only watch the teasers & trailer 1 now for big movies, they show way too much in the later trailers, international trailer etc

Day After Tomorrow - seeing as it was on TV I thought I'd rewatching. If anything it's worse than I remember. Still fun in a shlocky b-movie/disaster-movie kinda way though
