Free state of jones. Based on true story. 7/10
I got bored and turned it off after a while.

I couldn't shake the feeling that rather that it be a role that would suit MM, it was a role for MM to chase more gongs - if that makes any sense.

Ghostbusters 2016

What a lot of arse. Not a single laugh in two hours.
I recall one really good guffaw...I cannot recall where this appeared in the film.

Let's just be happy that this film has killed off the franchise for the foreseeable.

Maybe there was an actor better suited. It is quite slow to start, but things do pick up, and it gets good when things kick off.

Underworld Evolution
I saw the original years ago but only got round to the (first) sequel tonight.

Utter tosh, but Kate Bekinsdale and Scott Speedman are easy on the eye.

Predictable plot, such as it was. Pleasing latex and leather.

Overall, a limp 4/10 despite the aforementioned latex and leather.

Winter's Tale (released in the UK as 'A New York Winter's Tale', I guess in the unlikely case anyone got it confused with Shakespeare) - deeply average if you haven't read the book by Mark Helprin, and utter garbage if you have. 4/10 at best

Ex Machina - loved it, a solid 9/10 from me.

Watched Ted again last night on film 4 forgot how funny it is!
I lost the plot during the supermarket scene when Ted was miming what he would do to cashier and finishes with the soap on his face "too much?" hehe
Watched Ted 2 last night not quite up there with the first but still superb.

Storks - kids film, not as good as I hoped from trailers, for me or my 10 year old, some funny moments and fun characters though (esp the wolves) - 6/10

Nice one. I wasn't aware of this.

Big fan of Adam Curtis and his terrifying yet somehow comforting explanations of the world.

Inferno, as it was Mrs smn's turn to choose.

How bad can this be?, I thought. Ron Howard has made some pretty good films in the past, as has Tom Hanks.

Well all I can say is that it was the biggest pile of steaming turd that I've had the misfortune to witness this year. Ridiculous story, Hanks just looked bored all the way through, no redeeming features at all.

Just don't.

Layer Cake was on again late last week. I've only recently seen it, but now seem to be drawn to watching it every time it's on.

One review I saw was fairly damning, but made reference to Brown's 'fact-based thrillers'. Er, no. Brown's 'facts' are mostly a load of made-up pish. I read the Da Vinci Code and Angels and Daemons and looked up some of the background to the books, to find a whole list of errors. Fair enough, it's a work of fiction, but don't go making up st and presenting it as facts on which to build the narrative.

Bridge of Spies. Hanks Speilberg - Was concerned at the long run time. Didn't need to be, it's very good. 8.5/10
Our kind of Traitor, Ewan, Naomie & Stellan et al. - I like some John Le Carre stuff. But this was just formulaic nonsense. 5/10

Black Mass. Depp. - Liked the trailer for this, but whilst Depp is nothing like Depp in the film. Again, nothing new or unusual. Just another by the numbers Gangster movie.4/10

Kevin Hart: What Now?

7/10 Pretty funny, but also a little cringy in some parts. - Basically a short 20 minute story of him getting to the Venue where you watch his standup routine in Philly(?). I think there are a few 'in' jokes that not everyone can relate to, but worth a watch for sure.
