Although I have really been enjoying his early films, next on my hit list are two films actually made this century and are supposed to be very good. Broken Flowers and Lost In Translation.
Broken Flowers is excellent. Jim Jarmusch, so it's not very Hollywood. And all the better for it. People are weird.

Agreed; and FWIW Lost in Translation is one of my top 5 films of all time, although it may have more to do with the 'foreigner in Japan' thing which had affinity with me.

Alex do you have The Life Aquatic on your list? Wes Anderson film and very Jacques Cousteau-esque with Bill in the lead role - another one of my favourite 'millennial' BM gigs.

Love Bill Murray, seen most of his films. Not the Buffalo one though.
Stripes is an overlooked early gem.
Ghostbusters in in my perennial top ten of whatever, and it's effects are still rather good.
Love Broken Flowers

Murray in the 90's was a bit ropey once the watermark Groundhog Day was done with, but Quick Change is a nice lil film. Mad Dog and Glory is a nice film where you'll see a new side of Murray.
Also watch, the Man Who Knew Too Little.
He's obviously also ace as a secondary character in Tootsie and Little Shop....and wait a minute, Scrooged, that has to be in there.

Stripes - Superb underrated army training comedy. I think I grinned and laughed the whole way through it and I hardly ever enjoy comedy films. You can't help but love Murray's character. If you get hold of a copy of this, make sure it's the post watershed version as some of the risque moments are the best. 9/10. Would have been 10/10, but the last half hour went a bit too silly and wasn't as funny.
One of my favourite films from my Youth.

Lots to enjoy, John Candy for a start and one of the female MP's is Sean Young, soon to become Rachel in Blade Runner. cloud9

a new Zealand comedy featuring Sam Neill and a you NZ lad.
will be hard to top as the best film I watch this year, was genuinely funny, great characters and scenery. the connection between the 2 main characters is amazing.
10/10
We watched it at home and almost applauded when it finished.

Best film I've seen for some time.
Just watched it based on these recommendations. Didn't disappoint and was hilariously funny.
Watched this too. Bloody fantastic and the best film i have seen for ages.

Enjoyable. Certainly better than a lot of the big budget dross that's around.

Live by Night

Great film, 8/10.... for the first 20-30 minutes.... then it goes st, really st. Tying to mix too many story lines together to end up with a tasteless mush of a story. Don't bother.

2/10

Arrival, very melodramatic, a bit slow in places and come away a bit deflated but worth a watch.

7/10

Watched Apocolypse Now last night on Amazon TV Prime (included as part of Prime)

Interesting thing to me was there was no end credits. After the words The Horror, The Horror, it just fades to black.

"If i say It's safe to surf this beach Captain, then its safe to surf this beach!"

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Jts9suWIDlU

Then watched the opening sequence to T4xi (Taxi 4). Really a 407 clocking 312kph on the speedgun, fantasy talking here.

I think when you have seen a great movie, you have to walk away, switch the set off.

I've tried to watch that a few times, but nothing happens and I get bored of the film. I enjoy films that make you think and aren't action films, but this was just dull....

Thanks to everyone who recommended this, was just the type of film I needed, absolutely loved it and the one-liners between the kid and Sam Neil were fantastic. I am off to spread the word, everyone needs to see this smile

The Salvation - Found this by accident.

Old school Western starring Mads Mikkelsen and Eva Green and Jeffery Dean Morgan doing his baddie best.

Worth a watch if you like the genre 7/10.

Don't let Eric Cantona put you off!

Christine - unfairly overlooked John Carpenter classic. Really well shot in a way that makes the car look truly sinister, creepy without relying on jump scares or loads of blood, and the shots of Christine repairing herself still look brilliant more than 30 years on. Definitely up there with his best films

The whole concept of a street cat named bob sounds very dull. Can't be bothered lol
It´s a true story about a London street performer, his battle with addiction and his feline-related recovery. Mrs GenX loves the book so I´m sure this will be a hit with her.
I finally got round to watching A Street Cat Named Bob - I thought it was a brilliant film, really enjoyed it.
