Few that I've watched over the last couple of weeks:

Eye in the Sky (2015)

Helen Mirren runs a co-op drone mission in the sky above Africa. Hadn't seen anything about this one before ,but thought it was excellent - tense throughout with a great cast; Alan Rickman in particular stood out, and some cool mini-tech.
Agree. Seriously underrated and edge of your seat stuff...and an amazing insight into modern warfare. I thought it was brilliant. Rickman's last movie too frown

Shallows

Film about a female surfer with a nice bottom vs a cgi shark.

I wish I could muster the energy to say more about it, but on the basis that she as a 10* arse in a 1* film, I will settle for an easily forgettable 5/10.
Sky last night?

We did the same and my summing up would be the same.

A bit late to the party on both of these but:

The Revenant

One of those films you are glad you watched just for the spectacle (and what a spectacle) but won't watch it again. Cinematography, scenery and battle scenes were stunning but the character development was poor and frankly by the end I didn't give two hoots if Leo got his revenge.

6.5/10

Everest

Biopic of the 1996 disaster. We didn't know much about it so the emotional punch was big for us. A great film that didn't try and create action for action's sake and didn't seem to try and paint any good v bad guys, just told it as it happened. Fantastic cinematography again and a tragic story.

I thought it was pants - it was a situation that simply wouldn't occur. He'd have been relieved of duty almost immediately.

Not funny. At all. I'm staggered this dogst was ever released. Turned it off after half an hour. fk off Adam Sandler.

1/10.
He's done some utter st recently. Used to love Happy Gilmore and a few of his other ones. I think I've seen 1 of his new ones on NetFlix that was watchable. The others have all been total ste including Sandy Wexler. What a total waste of my life. Wonder if I can send him a bill for my time? scratchchin
No really, it gets so much better just after you switched off. Aniston and the one with the large norks have a bikini comparison and both the kids are excellent actors, especially the girl. I beg you to retry!
Sorry dude, I don't have the mental strength, regardless of norkage. biggrin
I'm afraid I'm inclined to agree smile

Captain Fantastic.

Great movie, delightfully written. If you enjoyed Hunt for the Wilderpeople you'll enjoy this quirky flick.

"The film begins with the fact that 25 percent of the people in the world who are incarcerated are incarcerated in the U.S., which has only 5 percent of the population."

sounds good.

On the Mrs instruction, just got two tickets for "unforgettable" at 9:15 tomorrow night. Should be snoring by 9:20 smile
Sorry about self-quote. I actually kept awake all the way through. First night and about a dozen people in the Odeon Port Solent. It deserves better in the main cinemas around the country. Quite enjoyed it but it bears a similarity to my life right now... therefore the plot was more than a bit obvious for me.

Still a good 7.5 out of 10 for keeping me awake.

American Sniper today. Free on Prime. It's more the personal story of his tours of duty, the effects on him and his wife, though there is a plot on that side of the world too. It's not at all "America, fk Yeah!" even though the guy was a hero. I've not read the book, but the film is very good. 8/10.
