Well just watched Guardians of the Galaxy pt1 again as part of the GotG pt2 double bill at the local flea pit.
Still really enjoyed it. Nearly the perfect blockbuster (& the first few minutes still pack an emotional punch).
Hope pt2 is as good as it should be
This film shows that (quite) a large ensemble cast doesn't have to be a dog's dinner (are you listening Age of Ultron?) well paced and some jaw dropping visuals. If you liked pt1 you'll love thisStill really enjoyed it. Nearly the perfect blockbuster (& the first few minutes still pack an emotional punch).
Hope pt2 is as good as it should be

Saw john wick for the first time ever today and I have to say it was brilliant. Didn't know what it was about beforehand which helped. Not much of a plot but didn't stop from enjoying the film.
Excellent film!! And where else can one wearing a suit take out an entire team of trained silent killers without a one bit of said suit becoming, ruffled in the scuffles shall we say... OH....MY....WORD!!!! Got done viewing The Island of Dr. Moreau with Val Kilmer, always liked that film. It wastes no time to getting in the thick of the plot. I guess Showtime was apt to showing Val Kilmer flicks because afterwards Batman Forever came on (yes, the Batman installment with the nipples).
And that's where the OH...MY... WORD!! comes into play... I remember the year it came out, 1995, I was around 13-14 years old and still hung up on Keaton being the true Batman. Now, I aways recalled Batman Forever being quite sub-par compared of course to the 1st and 2nd of Keaton's Batman, BUT, and I simply cannot stress the following enough using mere text here, BUT HOLY CRAP BATMAN FOREVER IS THE ABSOLUTE, HANDS DOWN MOST GIGANTIC PILE OF STEAMING HORSE st THAT HAS EVER BEEN PRODUCED....ESPECIALLY with such prominent names backing it i.e. Burton, Schumacher, Warner Bros, and of course the cast of big names i.e. Tom Jones, Jim Carrey, Kilmer, smoking hot Nicole Kidman, Drew Barrymore.
The premiere must have been insanely embarassing for the actors to sit through and watch such a horrendous vision by the director play out on the big screen. Can you just imagine how many foney (sp?) Kudos they must have all received the night of the premiere LOL
I mean look, obviously the director and producer (s)/studio filmed it to be purposely "cartoonish" or overtly acted out of you know what I mean... But WOW... just WOW. I am speechless that the studio somehow managed to allow for a sequel LOL With again stty overacted characters such as Mr Freeze. Both films had a dialogue that seemed to be written by some mid-pubescent boy because it mixed the most ridiculous dialogue, almost every line was some ridiculous innuendo on top of cringe worthy sexual innuendos i.e Kidman on te roof top with Batman next to the lit bat signal and shes feeling up on him and he says, "are you trying to get under my cape?" So stupid.
The scene in the beginning with the ridiculously acting security guard and batman trapped inside the bank vault that is being dragged above sky scrapers by a helicopter while it fills with acid and batman takes the guys hearing aid and picks the lock combo , opens it and blasts his grappling gun into a nearby building and attaches it to the several thousand lbs of steel with the guard on top and lets go as it swings around a building and lands perfectly BACK through the hole in the building like 100 stories up that the helicopter pulled it through and safely lands right back in place.
I dot even know what to say. WHO the hell approved such nonsense?!?
Also, Two Face i.e. Tommy Lee Jones character acted exactly like the joker from Batman 1989 Imo.
It was such absolute DOG st that I am actually pissed off right now haha

The thing that really irked me at the time....Tommy Lee JOnes, he is/was a competent actor, and he was a name at the time....but what the hell, Tw-Face was as you say, a very lazy copy of JOker...Two-Face is not JOker, something which was shown with aplomb in The Dark KNight many years later.
Also, apparently...Tommy treated co-star Jim Carey exceptionally poorly on set and was very rude to him...which always made me think less of Tommy Lee from then on. Carey was not bad, wit a real director he may have made a decent Riddler.
Found a new youtuber to watch, he reminds me of back when Cox/Kermode used to do their cool stuff on BBC2/C4....before telly went down the sts

Get Out - Watched it over the weekend, not a very long film so it flows quite quickly. I thought Daniel Kaluuya was brilliant regardless of what Mr L. Jackson thought about using a british actor!
9/10 for me.
Watched this yesterday, good pace and the storyline is a bit different so kept us interested.9/10 for me.
Recommended.
Guardians of the Galaxy 2. Trying a bit too hard to be cool, and thinks it is funnier than it is. No real tension - the goodies seem impervious, the baddies incapable of shooting them even with ludicrous odds, etc. It's still a pretty good two hours, and leading ladies of three colours to choose between. 7/10
Sausage Party.
Offensive, and not in a good way.
I like an "edgy" joke as much as the next person but it actually needs to be funny/clever.
Stereotypes which veer towards out and out racism & homophobia.
I swear a lot - but every 2nd word in this is st, fk or and it starts to grate.
When it does finally deliver a joke it then keeps smacking away at the same joke until its a battered broken mess and you wonder how you ever considered it mildy humorous to start with.
Its noisy, tiresome and painfully unfunny. All its jokes have been seen before & done better.
I turned off with 30 minutes left.

Watched a few I haven't seen before this week.
The Shallows - poor film, the early films in the Fast & Furious series are more realistic. 4/10
Logan - This was definitely worth watching, was quite dark for a superhero film, think Deadpool but without the humour. 7/10.
Kingsman - Well I wasn't expecting that! Silly but very enjoyable, 7.5/10, looking forward to the sequel.

Never seen it before, epic. Laugh out loud right up to the plot twist/reveal where it became very dark.
Absolutely epic

The set up for his mate to take the fall is epic.
We laughed so much as climbing down the tower a few years back we had to climb back up as our exit was blocked by two fat yanks waddling their way up!
