Having heard Queen's "Who wants to live forever" I was inspired to rewatch Highlander. An ok film, although the sword fighting scenes seem to be all about hitting the opponents sword rather than him, but holy crap how did Lambert ever get cast? A Frenchman who can't act playing a Scotsman, and a Scot who can't play any character other than a Scot playing an Egyptian.
6/10
Lambert is American , like Mel Gibson who also cant play a Scotsman6/10

Actually he's French (his name is actually Christophe Lambert but he anglicises it), and Mel Gibson is generally credited as "American-born Australian". But other than that, you are correct that neither play convincing Scotsmen.

Hmm, seems he was raised in Geneva and then moved to Paris, might explain his interesting accent. But other than that, you are correct that neither play convincing Scotsmen.

Born in America = American
Father a French diplomat. Children born to diplomats whilst on foreign soil do not automatically get given the Nationality of the foreign soil they are born on. Although, having said that, Christopher Lambert is listed as having both French and American citizenship.
I finally saw Mulholland Drive on Amazon Prime; a David Lynch film from 2001.
It's part mystery/part dream/part Hollywood commentary on a young actress going to Hollywood. Beautifully done; it keeps you guessing 'til after the film when you hit google with "explain Mulholland Drive". Naomi Watts is simply gorgeous. 9/10.

Heist (http://www.imdb.com/title/tt3276924/?ref_=nm_flmg_act_13) - a surprisingly good b-movie with Jeffery Dean Morgan, Bobby De Niro and Dave Bautista.
Kickboxer: Vengence - an unsurprisingly st b-movie staring Jean-Claude VD and Dave Bautista. One or two reasonable action sequences do not make up for the many poor ones

Split - Dude with 23 personalities. James McAvoy is very good.
pointless and shameless link to another film at the end ruined it for me. McAvoy's acting was superb, genuinely creepy. Manchester by the sea. 5/10
not the usual film i'd watch but other half wanted to see if. It's a tragedy, is very long , and never really gets anywhere. Ending is weak.
Casey Affleck's acting is great, but doesnt save the film.
Why this got an Oscar i've no idea.
Tip: make sure you are happy before watching.
LA LA Land
Really wanted to see this at the cinema but things kept cropping up at the time so missed it.
I'm not the world's biggest musical fan, however, I thought this was fantastic. What a joy to watch. Shot in Cinemascope with beautiful cinematography.
If you can make it past the first 15 minutes, which is over the top and a little "jazz hands", the story kicks in. The music is then more low key and IMO helps tells the story without overwhelming it.
Would recommend it to anyone, but I'm a dreamer

The Princes Bride
Watched for the first time with my eldest.
Classic.
Please Hollywood don't remake this or I will have to come looking for you like Liam Neeson in Taken (not the sequels)
11/10
One of my all time favourite films, and has stood the test of time very well. Ok, so the sets are a little shonky but there is such an innocence and a knowing wink to the audience, that you overlook it. Watched for the first time with my eldest.

It's one of those films that is so perfect that it should never be remade.

Worth noting the bluray is on amazon for about £8 at the moment.

For the first time in my 32 years, last night I finally got around to watching Lethal Weapon
Naturally, mid-May is the perfect time to watch a film set at Christmas
I can't believe I've never actually seen it before but now I am so glad that I have. It also goes a long way to its legacy that I recognise many of the scenes from parodies in The Simpsons/Family Guy/Police Academy and so on.
Now you need to watch the second one then stop there.Naturally, mid-May is the perfect time to watch a film set at Christmas
