Arthur Legend of camelot (Guy Ritchie)

Absolute dogs!t. Comically bad. Its basically Lock Stock set in the 11th century. Avoid at all costs.
Not my cup of tea but, out of curiosity, I had a look at the reviews on IMDB. Blimey, it gets amazing reviews but few from the UK. Indonesia, Japan, Finland, Ukrain, they love it, theyre crazy for the whole medieval Lockstock vibe. He obviously knows his market and so what if it's not in the Uk, it's a big world out there and they gobble up films like this.

La La Land
What a waste of time and effort. Nothing much happens, the songs are forgettable, the singing mostly weak. I didn't really warm to the characters (especially the girl).Good cinematography.

I watched Mr Brooks with Kevin Costner last night. Didn't quite know what to make of it, a bit quirky, held my attention.Shame about the blatantly tacked on 'Hollywood ending' which seemed to have been added on to run straight after the 'real' ending which I assume didn't go down well with the test audience.

I'm going to see The Hippopotamus on it's opening night after hearing the clip on Wittertainment last week - the script sounds fantastic for it - bit like Malcolm Tucker but in a toff accent.

Also see The Game for a similar volte face.

I've read the book - it's very funny - if outrageously rude.

Mechanic: Resurrection

Utter nonsense, however: Statham + Jessica Alba + Rio + Lada Niva + shoot + submarines + Communist Monuments = thumbup

Saw John Wick 2 last night - possibly aiming for a new bodycount record, definitely a suspension of disbelief movie as realism isn't its strongest point... pretty much as expected really, good brain-off entertainment.

No I'm confused too

Modern western for me is something like no country for old men.

Anyway Silverado is a lot of fun. Enjoyable film but there are many better recent westerns like Open Range for example.
I love Open Range.

3096 Days on Netflix

About a schoolgirl who was kidnapped and held for [can you guess?]...3096 days.

Quite bad German->English dubbing in places, but a pretty awful true story non the less.

Brimstone

It took a bit of time to heat up but it held my attention after that. Guy Pearce was very good in it.

Kevin Costner is a brilliant movie dude with a small number of bad efforts.

The odds are that if KC is involved, it'll be a good film - or in the case of 'Dances', one of the best films ever made. A Masterpiece.

Dances With Wolves, Open Range, Silverado...

... all superb westerns. I have them all on DVD and better quality downloads.

Clint is possibly the only other person who has made consistently good westerns, with GBU being the best of them all. It's just a pity most people write that one off because of the imperfect sounds - both the sync'ing and the old FX.

I just checked, he is directing a 10 hour western!!!
that's more than Open Range, Dances with Wolves and Wyatt Earp combined!

Force Majeure on Netflix.

Family get caught in an avalanche and the husband legs it to save himself rather than protect the wife and kids. Did hold my interest for a while, with some great scenery and general skiing shots, but ultimately I found that I didn't really give a toss about their relationship troubles

The first film I've walked out of before the end in 20 years.

Tiger Raid

New one on sky, had 4 stars so gave it a go

Two soldiers for hire, off to complete a mission in middle east somewhere - very obviously a transition form play to film, there are only 3 characters, lots of shouting at each other and then it gets very repetitive

ended up fast forwarding to end, and that didn't make a lot of sense
