Good video, but the chap reading from his autocue isn't very good at reading from an autocue. The content is good though.
When I first came across this chap, I disliked his style very much, but the content was so good (basically, all his film logs; Die hRd, Alien, Terminator ones being exceptionally good), but now I've watched a lot of his content, I quite like it, he is quite subtle.https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCxUR9wLuzgsvA6mpg...

I stumbled across his channel not too long ago and quite like it, since he actually explains why a film does or doesn't work instead of just shouting loudly how much it sucks. Rossatron is another good one, especially as it was via him that I learned of the masterpiece that is Black Dynamite

The Rossatron ones linked from Georg for me, I guess youtube software links them as similar. I like Rossatron, especially his Predator video. Both he and Georg, like RLM discuss how the struture of films work; plot, shots etc, I love that. It's stuff that I've always thought about, but no-one really talks about it on telly, not since the 90s with Cox/Kermode programmes anyway.https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCxUR9wLuzgsvA6mpg...
I disagree with Ross on a few things, but I like his analytic skills.

Georg comes across much more naturally in the Terminator one. Or maybe I'm getting more used to him.
Kong - Skull Island
Thought it was fairly crap. Ridiculous amount of stupid decisions and unbelievable things happening (even for a monster movie based around a 200ft gorilla). Loads of issues with it, the first scene is pointless and introduces kong badly and for no reason, the helicopters flying through the storm is beyond ridiculous and annoying as they clearly show about 6/7 on the boat yet in the air there's more like 12. The first attack on Kong is just silly, every helicopter gets downed in about 2 minutes with none of these trained/skilled pilots making any effort to get away and regroup or plan anything. I basically hated most of it. Hiddleston's character is badly done, Samuel L Jackson is a caricature, most of the action scenes require you to suspend belief to the point of absurdity. The plot is weak and even some of the cgi is naff. And the constant music/style etc forcing the point home that it's the 70's and the Vietnam war is on is wearing.
3/10, hope the Godzilla/Kong film is much better.
Beauty & the Beast
This was probably my favourite Disney film as a kid so was always going to be a hard sell. The beast is poor, not scary enough, not beasty enough (in the cartoon he moves like an animal, often on all fours, and growls and grunts and fights like a beast. And he doesn't wear posh clothes all the time). Also felt Hermione wasn't right as Belle, just didn;t look the part for me. Songs are still great. CGI was poor at times and I found that most of the characters like Lumiere and Cogsworth lost most of their facial expressions and character due to really poor design. You could barely even make out their faces. Also all the wolves were white, which was silly, and the dad was too normal and her horse was white too (because fairytale) and so on.
6/10 because the music is still mostly great.

Invested £1.99 to watch
You pay to watch films ?! We only pay to see a movie when it's something that really needs the big screen experience and speaking of the big screen, when did it become so expensive? Is it any wonder the average punter is streaming movies from the comfort of their own homes.

i pay for films as it is not a lot and the experience is better. the streaming sites are full of malware and in truth seems the right thing to do really. I don't have a kodi box.
Agree with this, what is the point of having a 55" OLED HDR TV, and 5.1 speakers and amp if I just downloaded films from illegal sites. I'd much prefer getting the full-fat experience of sound and vision, and have no problem at all paying for that experience.Gassing Station | TV, Film, Video Streaming & Radio | Top of Page | What's New | My Stuff
