Couple for me this week:

Keeping Up with the Joneses (2016)

The main quirk with the soon to be discontinued LoveFilm by Post is the random distribution of disks, hence KUWTJ arrived yesterday.

Sat through it after an afternoon on the booze; not sure what was going on apart from Isla Fisher was present; which was good .

No Way Out (1987)

US Navy officer Kevin Costner is seconded to work at the Pentagon & manages to stumble into a murder cover up involving his governor, Defense Secretary (Gene Hackman) and his mistress (Sean Young). In the usual Cold War fashion the Russkies are blamed; with a frantic search for deep cover agent "Yuri" ensuing.

Entertaining period spy/chase/thriller with a twist; particularly amusing watching the ancient tech in the Pentagon's computer room being used to try & track someone down. Also good use of an Alfa Spider.
I haven't seen No Way Out for years; good film.

Is that the one where Costner and Sean Young have it off in the back of Hackman's limo? Best bit of the film.......

No Way Out is an excellent film, would a smart thriller like that be made today?

Don't be silly! biggrin

Nothing gets made anymore unless it's a dumbed-down remake or a film of a comic!

Screwed

British film about prison life, some familiar faces; Noel Clarke, James D'Arcy, Frank Harper.....

Enjoyed it, gritty and probably quite realistic (although what would I know- never been inside).

However - couldn't quite make out the twist at the end - so if you watch it, let me know!

It's not massively different to Mr & Mrs Smith with Jolie and Pitt. I think Isla Fisher is a lot hotter though and the new Wonderwoman being the other main female character so not a bad line up. The husband to Isla being the chunky bloke from the Hangover. It's all the better for it.

I think it's quite an underrated film.

Boring and clichéd, hitman with a heart nonsense.

Tonight we watched Almost Christmas
This is a story of a black family who, once again, seem to have a huge house and unlimited funds, awkwardly made to be dysfunctional so they can unite into the usual clichéd morass of mawkish sentimentality to live happily ever after. Surprisingly rude for what you might think would be a family film... my 8 year old suddenly learnt some new words.
3/10 for the scene where the girl gets caught halfway through a window.

Wife chose Baywatch to watch last night.

2/10 - I had high hopes but it was rotten. I don't think I laughed once - and I really have liked most of the films Johnson and Efron have been in but terrible story. I would give it 0/10, but it had old cast cameos, and an ultra hot new version of Pamela A, who despite being a model was actually not too bad.
After reading your post I thought "it can't be that bad" but wow!

I like the rock, but even I struggled to get through this one.

The Villan was quite possibly the worst I've seen, I genuinely can't think of a worse one right now.

Where did you see this? I know it was released today but it's nowhere to be found on any listings at Odeon, Empire or Vue cinemas.

Shot Caller - Jamie Dude from GoT. Get's done for Drink Drive and the guy in the car he's driving dies. - Goes to Jail a 'normal' guy, becomes a hardman to survive. Bit crap really. They slowed down the crap stuff and sped up the cool stuff. Terrible edit. Acting ok. Lots of bit parts from other people you'll sit there and wonder where you saw them in. 5/10

Live by Night - Ben Affleck's 'sorry my Great Grandpa kept slaves' film. So this petty Chicago (I'm not a..)gangster guy gets set up and a very cuddly Don Italiano uses him to get at some Irish gangster guy in Florida. Ben goes uber PC as an Irish guy working for an Italian banging a cuban/black chick while taking the fight to the KKK - we turned it off. 0/10 - dunno how it ended.

I very rarely turn films off, (sat through baywatch yesterday hehe ) but I started watching Live by Night and couldn't get past the first half hour, utter rubbish.

Saw Life On The Limit, a documentary about F1 racing from the 1950's up until around 2012. Plenty of great action shots and a very good soundtrack. Lots of interviews with racing drivers and Bernie Ecclestone, Prof Sid Watkins, Max Mosley, Clive Chapman and others connected with the Motor racing circus. Well worth seeing if you are interested in that sport.
