Being made into a TV series as well. http://www.radiotimes.com/news/2017-06-27/kevin-ba...
I'm not really sure how it can be made into a TV series. Half the fun of the film was them slowly discovering what they were up against.

Under The Skin. It's the weekend film on 4od.

Nearly 2 hours, not a lot happens, Scarlett Johansson gets naked, it's got Adam Pearson in it (the disfigured guy from the Simon Rimmer restaurant programme), and Jeremy McWilliams the motorbike racer. SJ goes kerb crawling in Glasgow in a white van, everything happens very slowly. It's nothing like a normal film. Reviews go from amazing to wtf, I'm erring towards the latter.

The Three Stooges

I was never really amused by the original 3 Stooges so was not expecting much. However, my 8 year old laughed like a drain and my 11 year old quite liked it. Slapstick is universal laughter for all. I'd give it 7/10 for its intended audience.

The Hitman's Bodyguard 10/10 action, laughs and a very likeable cast, wasn't expecting much but it more than delivered. Empire gave it a standard terrible review though confused
Saw Hitmans Bodyguard the other day, most entertaining film of the year so far.

Mrs chose 'Rough Night' tonight, basically a reboot of Very bad Things, hangover, bridesmaids etc etc.

Out of 10... 3 or 4 maybe, at a push.

Just watched sleepers on universal channel. Haven't seen this for a good few years. An all star cast and a great story but quite harrowing at times.

An enjoyable film I agree but well down on my fav list.

Try, "Brassed Off", a nice little film in a similar vein.

Great line from that movie:

Have you just joined love?
Yes. How did you know?
Just something me husband never said.

Agree with that. Started off ok but got silly at the end.

Another family film, quite enjoyed it even if it is usual US fare.

Certainly better than the far more recent Undercover Granpa which is largely nonsense and stereotypes from start to finish - a sort of "Reds" but worse.

Baywatch.

The odd funny bit but almost a parody of a parody - a bit rubbish.

Made in America - quite an interesting film and way more enjoyable than it should be given the subject

Patriots Day

I was expecting a lot of "Merica"

I was pleasantly surprised, it felt much more like the 2 hour long finale of a high end, high cost procedural cop show and its much much better for it.

Williams

Exceptional documentary about the still-family-owned Formula One team. It does wallow in death a little bit (the Bandini footage is always shocking) but the bits with Claire Williams are remarkably touching, and the end is really rather unexpected.

A must for fans of F1 and its history. 9/10

Alien Resurrection. I love the Alien universe, I even like Prometheus but time & again the films give you cause to shout at the TV.

Super enhanced clone Ripley: The ship's moving, I can feel it.

Super enhanced clone Ripley: You've got one inside you, I can smell it.

Super enhanced clone Ripley: You're a robot?

What happened to Monday

On Netflix, set in the future with overpopulation causing the government to introduce a 1 child only policy and any subsequent children to be put in 'Cryosleep' until we sort the population crisis. A family has septuplets(?) and one goes missing. Chaos ensues.

Review: Very good film I thought but then again I love films like that. Brilliantly acted by the lead role imo, would recommend for anyone struggling for something on Netflix. 8/10

Captain Phillips

A bit of TomHanks in a cracking film about the hijack of a US tanker by Somali pirates. Good plot, well filmed with ideal tension throughout.

8/10
True story as well. Excellent film.

Just watching You only live twice, its not aged well!
Agree, watched some of it yesterday evening - it's not one of the better ones. The Toyota still looks cool though.
Don't care; for me personally You Only Live Twice is the definitive James Bond movie although not without its flaws (namely the horrendous "Thish ish my japaneesh fashe" bit halfway through the film. But the goods far outweigh the negatives:

  • Space crafts that swallow up other space craft
  • Launched from a volcano base in Japan with a retracting roof
  • Monorail in the villain's lair
  • Movable launch pad in the villain's lair
  • Piranha pool with a collapsible bridge in the villain's lair
  • Moving Helipad... in the villain's lair
  • Convertible 2000GT
  • Twin-engine helicopter with a giant magnet that lifts the baddies car off the road and dumps it in the ocean
  • The opening joke when Bond is apparently killed whilst in bed with a girl "He died on the job; he would have wanted it that way"
  • Little Nelly
  • Extended fight scene at the docks when the do that really long sweeping take from a helicopter camera
ETA:
  • The theme song as mentioned by SWoll below
  • The fact is encapsulates what the JB franchise is - espionage taking place in far-flung exotic locations.
YOLT is the film that kick-started my love with Japan so that's probably why I like it so much. I admit it is ropey in places though; not only the Japanese-ification bit, but also when he beds the femme fatal and proceeds to completely reveal to her that he's James Bond, he's a spy and he's working for the Brits.

When you put it as well as that it highlights exactly what's been missing from the more recent Bond efforts IMO.

Especially spacecraft, monorails and piranhas!
